Are y’all Chinese or something?

Santa Fae would be my choice for what you describe.
Or a used Ford ranger. Those things are bullet proof and can be had for a reasonable price.

A good friend of mine is a mechanic, he advised me to avoid Kia at all costs. Unless you are buying new and selling before the warranty is out. Engines are made of glass.
To give specific recs, would be nice to have more info, like: What's the budget? How far will he be driving daily? Does he need/prefer 4x4, suv, or a truck? Is fuel economy a priority? Comfort? Speed? How long does he plan to keep it? Is resale value important?

I got my son a Lexus SUV with many miles on it and we have had zero problems.

Ahhh, ok, guess that was a little misleading, but will just be helping in the decision and perhaps donating a little for an early college graduation present.

Don't know the answer yet to every one of those questions, but I would estimate somewhere in the $15,000 range for budget. Probably not driving more than 50 miles or so per week, and probably not more than 100 once full time hits in the summer. Right now doesn't need anything more than a car with preferably decent mpg and comfort. If he's like me he will drive that vehicle until it drops, so resale not too important at this time.

LOL, nope, just trying to be conservative and practical. I currently drive a 2005 Sequoia when we need room, and otherwise a 2011 Camry.

What type of internship is it? That will depend on the car he needs
Posted on 12/11/23 at 5:23 pm to Pelican fan99
Intership is mainly going to be done in same town with perhaps an occasional drive 20-30 miles away to work in another office. It's approximately 4-month internship which should turn into a full-time job starting in the summer if all goes well. I want him to have a vehicle that will last a good bit beyond his internship. I had a two-door Camry with 2-3 car seats in the back for several years which didn't bother me other than a bit more hassle to get the kids in and out.

Just get a 24 mo. lease. Make him pick up the payments after he graduates.

I already posted that I have your car but if you want to spend a lot more to get one from a dealer go right ahead.

I walk more in a week than this, why does he need a vehicle?

This is how we know you're not an OT baller.
Why don't you post some pics of f250 duallies. I would love to see them.
Only OT ballers have them, this is how I know you're not a baller.

They must be tremendously rare. Post some pics of one so we can see what they look like.

At that age, shouldn't he be buying his own car???
