Michigan State is set to hire Minnesota’s Joe Rossi as defensive coordinator, a source tells @247sports.

Under Rossi, Minnesota ranked ninth nationally in scoring defense in 2022 and third in 2021

Solid hire.

Minny has been decent on D (I realize the b10 west is dog shite), but has had some good units.

Can't get any worse than they've had the last 4 years

Good hire for Smith, especially since his DC at Oregon State got named the head coach. Runs a variable 3-4. Let’s see how they defend Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington though…

So 9th nationally while playing a Big Ten West schedule equates to about 60th nationally? I’d still take him at LSU over this warmed-over dogshit defense we’ve had for 2 years with Matt House.

Parker is 60 and has been in Iowa City since 1999.

I highly doubt he’s making any moves unless Ferentz gets fired or retires.

He won't leave Iowa for any other school. I was making a point of the Coaching Changes board (mostly LSU fans) clamoring for a new DC. Some posters said "hire Phil. LSU DC is a better job than Iowa DC".

He has zero interest in leaving Iowa. All he wants to do is coach his guys and go home. He doesn't care about notoriety or money. He'll He doesn't even have an agent.

Fun fact: Phil and Mike Denbrock were GAs together at Michigan State way back in the day.

Then the Gophers will have a very good defense.
