Churchill was a drunk!!
When you study his true past you realize he was not a statesman. Projection then, projection now!!
250 cc is more than 8 ounces.

He was definitely a drunk.
Has anyone read The Last Lion trilogy?

Nobody will argue Churchill was a goody goody. He also fricked a lot of things up.
However, he was the exact type of leader needed at the time. And he may have some of the best quotes ever.

Confused. Zelensky was not alive in 1932.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that we really have no need of re-writing history 80 to 100 years after the fact.

This was how Churchill circumvented our Prohibition laws when he visited the United States.

How do we know the alcohol wasn't also for those he was having dinner with.

We all knew he was a drunk. Some people do their best work under the influence

Who?
That is a lie that "functioning" alcoholics tell themselves.

Then you believe in allowing British Propaganda of those days serve as the infallible truth of what happened to the Lusitania.

Thats a nice theory but the note was an Rx and it was scripted for Churchill alone.

We should declare war on England immediately to punish them for the lives lost.
Deconstruction is a tedious exercise in futility.

Artists.
Go back to the Rock and Roll legends of the 70s and 80s - music quality took a dive when they tried to stop drugs and alcohol.

With his sense of humor, the ridiculous size of the prescription might have been him mocking us as well.

We are talking about alcohol. Yes drugs can make musicians more creative.
But if you take a great guitar player and get him drunk, he wont play better than if he was sober.

Churchill was a prodigious drinker, for sure. He began his day with a weak scotch and soda and basically kept it going all day. But there are virtually no accounts of him being visibly drunk. This is remarkable because while we all think of Churchill as being universally beloved, he had a lot of enemies, political and otherwise, in England. Regardless, he seems to have done a great job of maintaining a level buzz throughout the day.

quote:I have in addition to several other Churchill biographies. He was, as all great men are, a flawed man, but he did some absolutely heroic things and was precisely the leader Britain needed to get through and win WWII. He led a fascinating life that spanned an incredible time in history. The guy participated in a cavalry charge at the battle of Omdurman and died in the nuclear age.
Has anyone read The Last Lion trilogy?

"Some people do their best work under the influence" was the original quote. You've moved the bar to drunk.
If said guitarist has issues playing in front of a large crowd, a drink or two could loosen him up without messing with his dexterity.

Churchill was almost certainly an alcoholic. However, it doesn't preclude him from being an effective politician. I can understand the need to take the edge off when dealing with lying slimeballs all day

The whole thread is about Churchill's drinking. You have moved the bar to drugs.
