How we feeling about that? I was hoping for a night game to get a full house when they drop the new intimidator and championship flag.

Happened last year. At least this year they are warning everyone ahead of time. Plan accordingly

Agreed. I plan on taking that day off now for a little day game at The Box.

it's a round robin type format where they will have multiple games on each day
I guess Jay wants to play early in case weather becomes an issue

They don’t care about you Tommy. They don’t care about me neither.

I bet they do this on Saturday. The intimidator will just stay covered for the Friday game.

ALL the Feb games should be as early as possible. Weekend games at 1pm and weekday games at 4pm.

Obviously CJJ has earned the right to do whatever he wants but it’s still funny how insistent he is over a few degrees.

Except Saturday and Sunday games are 1 pm. I might think that if it were an evening game.

Do you not see a difference in a Friday 2pm game and a Saturday 1pm game? We routinely have Saturday afternoon games, and Sundays are always early afternoon. Fridays are very rarely in the afternoon (sometimes very early season or sometimes opening of the regional).

The athletic department knows almost no one will be at the game on Friday at 2pm where it will be much more full on Saturday at 1pm.

I'm generally not a fan of day games on weekdays, since I have a real job. But then again, that's when Eastern Time works in my favor, I should be good for some BPB

I hope the coaches continue to care more about the team than the fans when it comes to scheduling.

Taking off work for 1 day, to open the season, I’m sure LSU baseball fans will do that.

But for the rest or the month, playing games at 2:00 in the afternoon on workdays is, how can a put this politely, a slap in the face to the fans.

Jay could turn out be the best coach in America, yet there would still be a gap between someone like him and Skip Bertman. Skip built this LSU program, and much of what we see now in SEC baseball, because not only was he the best on the field coach, but he was the game’s best promoter as well. He want the largest fan base and the most intimidating home field advantage in college baseball and he built that. He cared about the fan’s experience. And the fan’s rewarded him with a loyal following that is still around today. Skip never scheduled all of his early season games during working hours.

Jay is running his program how he wants to. And that’s what he should do. But it doesn’t stop us from noticing the difference.

This is not a “hate on Jay Johnson” post. He is doing a fantastic job as the head coach at LSU. It’s just a post saying the fans are getting left out with these early starts.

Skip had to first get people interested in baseball. Well he did that. LSU fans are already interested in baseball, so now we care most about winning.

Our non conference home schedule is putrid. We may as well be playing JUCO teams, so I’m not all that upset by it.
