Mrs. H2O and I are hitting the road to Dallas this evening to spend the holiday with family and friends.
Really glad we avoided flying somewhere this year. The lines at AUS have been insane all week and the East Coast looks like they're gonna get hammered.
What are the folks of the Travel Board doing this week?

Flew from Austin to Dulles yesterday and it wasn't that bad. Was honestly surprised by how quiet Austin seemed all weekend.

You aren’t talking to me. That’s when I’m flying.

Everyone seems to be moving away with the exorbitant cost of living and high property taxes.

We made the drive to DFW tonight and I-35 was surprisingly empty once we got past Temple. Austin was just full of idiots on their phones trying to drive.

BIL flew out early this morning and didn't run into anything crazy. Definitely better than expected.
Also, kudos to United: "Yesterday United had a 100% completion factor across their entire operation (including regional flights). The airline operated 4,121 departures, transporting about 486,000 passengers. Important to note that this came on a day where inclement weather impacted all of the Northeast, including their Washington Dulles and Newark hubs, with heavy rain and strong winds."

Traveling around the treasure coast tomorrow seeing family and friends. Will be nice driving vs the 6 hr flights from years past.
. Honestly shocked given the weather yesterday but a huge statistic in a good way. AA cancelled a bunch in DC/Charlotte, didn't check on Delta

AA was touting some great stats for mainline, not sure about the RJs

I'd say my June vacation and possibly Labor Day were busier. Seemed like a more normal day there or even below normal. Was weird.
Perhaps remote work has people spreading departures around or something. Can leave Sunday or Monday or whatever and still work.
Anyway, no complaints from me!

We are spending 3 weeks with family for Christmas instead of 1 because we can work remote.
5 days for Thanksgiving without working.

With the coming cuts from many airlines I see AUS holding steady/shrinking slightly over the next year or two. Nothing drastic, but just enough to ease some of the chaos we have there now.

Those AA cuts look especially brutal when you go to the Wiki page.

In Paris and heading to Normandy today. Dreading the return trip to the US on Saturday and the ATL connection shitshow….

Currently in Madison with my wife's family and heading up to Minneapolis tomorrow to hang with a couple college buddies for the weekend + go to Wisconsin/Minnesota game on Saturday.

They do, but when you dig in and look at it AA isn't really pulling much capacity out of AUS. A lot of the routes went away but they are upgauging aircraft and adding frequencies to their major hubs.

Flew from Love field to Baltimore yesterday afternoon. Security lines were great, 7 minutes to get through lines. Much better than what I was expecting.
