6 under after 8 at Purcell Farms with a 6 footer for birdie on 9. Hit an aeration hole at the cup which caused a lip out.

Really can’t complain about the holes though, I’m sure at least one other putt went in from a good bounce from one.

Finished with a 67, best round in years. 6 away from shooting my age, closest I’ve ever gotten.

Did you stay there?

I’ve heard good things about the golf, food, and lodging.
Is it crowded?
What sort of weather policy do they have?

I didn’t stay there, it’s a 2 hour drive to get there. The course wasn’t crowded at all, though in the summer when I have gone it was.

The course is great. The greens had been punched a few days prior so it was a little bumpy in places, but given I had 25 putts on the round and made almost everything inside 15 feet they were still good. In the summer when I played it they were fast, and there’s some nasty breaks. I made a 70 footer on 4 that would have been impossible if they were fast. (I was hoping just to 3 putt it and the flag got in the way)

You’d have to call and ask about their weather policy, sorry.

That's impressive. What is your handicap out of curiosity?

8, though when I was younger I was a plus 2. I made a change a couple rounds back and I’m hitting everything on line again.

Last 3 rounds have been 55 (4 man scramble playing mostly my shots), 73 and this.

8 birdies on that round, hit 10 approach shots inside 15 feet. I don’t know how many years it’s been since I did anything like that. A lot though

Hopefully I can still play golf at 92 so I can shoot my age!

How is your handicap an 8?

That seems impossible considering your good rounds.

Yeah… I’ve played that track a few times… an eight handicap isn’t shooting 30 on the front 9. No chance in hell.

How many times have you shot 62 or below? Answer for me is 3. 30 years ago when I was playing 200+ rounds a year.

Now I’m playing maybe 15 rounds a year if I’m lucky. I went and got a lesson (first one I ever had) a few months ago because my back hurt after rounds. He told me I was reaching for it and swinging too flat. I changed it to be more upright. A couple weeks ago I saw a tip concerning ball position. I changed it a little, and apparently my muscle memory said “oh, now I remember” apparently.

Since then I’ve been on line, fewer misses in bad places. Even my misses are still putts the last few rounds, and I’m a pretty good putter.

Not if this keeps up. At my age to get back to scratch is something I never thought I’d see again.

I added the last 2, it’s 3.4 after plugging them in. If the iron accuracy stays good I can play to that I think.

Career score for me would have been shooting 60. So yeah, not sure why that chart would apply

Looks like you may have found it again.

Good luck and go low.

Thanks, but it’s golf. I’ll probably tweak it thinking I can improve it and chunk a couple in the lake.

We can’t help ourselves.

That’s really what I was saying. I thought you were an 8 after adding it in. I was a 5, and shot a 69 this summer at an easier course which bumped me down to a 3. Those good rounds are fun, but screw you for handicap purposes

Yep, but my tournament days are behind me. I enjoyed that 67 a lot more than the dozens of times I shot that or better when I was playing a lot. Dwelt on the shots I should have made and didn’t too much.
