Hawkins is now the 6th man off the bench for the Pels, but I'd love a platoon lineup

I think it's safe to say Hawkins is better at this point in his career than Trey was and Trey is going to have to earn his role back on the court. He's shooting 39% from 3 in his last 5 games with high volume and he's not afraid to pop that shite with a hand in his face. He's got a quick release, and can put the ball on the ground with legit footwork on his pull-up.

He gets to the line at least once a game, and for a guard gets you 4 rebs a game but dude is constantly in the paint fighting. Zion would average 12 boards a game with his effort.

I wish we could go hockey style lineup switches and bring in Jose, Trey, and Hawkins off the bench at the same time, and leave Zion and CJ on the floor. Crowd would go nuts at home. Until then, Jordan Hawkins for 6th man/RoTY

There is going to be a numbers crunch soon. Murphy, Daniels and Hawkins are going to want to play 30mpg and start regularly. It doesn't matter much now, given our injuries. You can't blame them. Jones got paid for that reason. Its great having the depth, but it's going to eventually be seen as holding them back..

Daniels and Hawkins are going to understand their roles. Every player wants to start and play heavy minutes but also understand the situation they’re in. Hawkins and Dyson are young and understand that. Its a great problem to have and frankly with our injuries a needed one.

I really think Hawkins could be a 18/5/3 guy by the end of the year if they dont stunt his growth.

He's the guard version of Trey Murphy and id be more conscious around building the team of a core of:

Zion
Trey
Herb
Hawk
Dyson

Beyond anything. If we could somehow make our BIG situation like our Wing situation were pretty damn good.

I just updated a minutes thread talking about this.

I think Hawkins emergence along with Dyson's growth are more ammo for pushing for a BI swap for a big man trade.

Gets us off BI's salary, opens a starting spot for Trey and could upgrade the weakest position on the team.

Hopefully they see our insane depth and understanding their role as their quickest route to a championship?

I agree with you but I think Griff will see it as a way to move off CJ and Nance. I just dont think Griff will ever part with Ingram.

From a talent perspective, I'd be find moving off CJ. Problem is he's one of our only mature guys.

Jose, Naji and Nance are just not good enough to be the team leaders.

Really need Zion to take that over. I do think Trey and Hawkins are the mindset we need.

Herb is amazing but that's not him and Dyson definitely is not.

I mean realistically I don’t think anything with BI or a major piece will happen this year. I think they shop JV at trade deadline to see if they can get a more athletic big but won’t force a trade. I think Griffin really wants to see how Zion/BI do in a playoff series before deciding what to do with BI in regards to extension or trade. If they can’t even make the playoffs- he’ll have his answer. That being said- both hawkins and dyson are on rookie deals so I don’t think Griff will be on a huge rush to trade major pieces just to give them time.

It's a good thing they probably don't have to make a decision on CJ until the summer of 2025.

No young player is sacrificing a future payday for a potential championship. That doesn't make sense. There are many places they could go and be a solid starter and a Top 4 option. Why stay here and be the 7th or 8th option?

Well it's a good thing all the guys you listed are on rookie contracts and will be rfas when their contacts are up. You just trying to create drama that doesn't exist.

Lol what? Hawkins and Dyson are in their first/second year of their contracts. What payday lol? And I can promise you that with their makeup they would sacrifice for a championship. You have some absurd arguments at times.

If you think a #14 pick in the draft in his rookie season has the clout to demand 30 minutes a game, you are nuts. He will play his role. He is a nice piece, but not the shooter that Trey is, at least yet. He will be a nice sparkplug off the bench.

I'm not talking about this year. But next year and the following years to come. Nothing has to been done now. But there will be a conflict soon.

This is a great problem to have. But it somewhat goes to show what happens when players are forced to play early and put under immediate pressure. Instead of trying to grow them on the bench or playing 10mpg in garbage time.

In my mind, it's put the target on a couple of players we need to potentially move to open spots. I want to develop and grow in-house youth..

Oh, that is different. Things will work themselves out in the next 2-3 years if he and/or DD deserve the playing time.

No one gets paid off raw counting stats any longer

Play to your strengths efficiently and you will be well fed and in the league a long time

Man you really need an anxiety medication. You’re worrying about things 2/3 years down the line? I mean I don’t even know if Griff or Willie will be here then. Its like worrying about what are we going to do when Zions contract is up- basically same timeline. Like who knows- it’s literally years down the line with who knows different gm or coach even. This franchise doesn’t have enough stability for me to worry about things two to three years down the line.
