The fact that pharmaceutical middlemen are taking advantage of the situation should surprise no one since the prescription drug “market” is a government-sanctioned monopoly in every respect. The FTC overlooking such fraud is akin to the Mexican Cartels investigating street dealers for skimming profits off the top.

This is it. End of discussion. Private businesses owe no moral obligation to the community, only to its stock holders and employees.

If the people in the neighborhoods don’t want them to shut down then quit stealing from them to the point that they can’t financially keep the doors open.

How about getting an education and leaving these areas. I guess that’s asking too much

I know in this area, the closing of these places doesn't fix the problem. The thieves just come to our end of town to continue doing what they want.

Tell the people in the neighborhoods to stop stealing the pharmacies blind, then!

In fact the PBMs are worse than the looters.

Additionally, over zealous DEA policies are killing the brown poors fast.

We can thank the Unaffordable Care Act. Rural pharmacy deserts started becoming a problem a few years later.

Then the should be healthier

The chains here suck. Poorly staffed. You wait forever, long lines. No one likes them. By chains I mean Walgreens and CSV. I'm pretty happy with Kroger.

Parmartist has to attend college for 8 years. A Pharmacy tech has to attend school close to 2 years. Pharmacy is under staff. If they close stores, they have look at under performing Pharmacy centers and staffing issues too not just including theft.

My closest pharmacy is over 1 mile away. Now I can complain because I live in a “pharmacy desert”.

Is there anything that doesn’t impact these groups?

I’d be embarrassed to be told this over and over.

Yeah, 1 mile is a dumb metric. I live in a pharmacy desert and a food desert by that definition.

But I can easily walk 1 mile.

Exactly.

Companies/businesses are not obligated to be charities (or to put employees at risk)

Think his point is that there aren't any pharmacies generally in rural areas, and those habitants are surviving in their "pharmacy desert". But somehow it's racist when urban dwellers loot and rob pharmacies blind and they have "no way of getting their medicine".

Well can't the CVS, Walgreens and RAs be replaced with the Wal Marts and Grocery stores that have pharmacies?

When will Dollar General finally get in the pharmacy business?
