I find myself getting irrationally pissed off with this bull shite trend of people putting up Christmas decos already. Those people are fricking losers.
I spend $2k a year on those Christmas lights you're lucky I don't have them on for labor day

It's a odd year for me. I went from going to two large Thanksgiving dinners to none. Then guest Christmas in ten years I'm solo. Going to still decorate and put up a tree. But going to be an off year for the holidays. I may run off to Mexico during them and just party. It's what I've been doing.

Love them both..... Thanksgiving's better but love Christmas music.

To be honest, I would prefer to just find some good dive spot and ignore the holidays.

Love the holidays. We have a small family so there's no drama to worry about. I look forward to Thanksgiving weekend every year when I spend 2 days putting lights up.

Love the holidays
With some rare exceptions, most of which are festive stuff (Christmas markets etc.), I do zero in person gift shopping after Nov 1.
No large scale Christmas events but a bunch of smaller ones - church, family gatherings, some dinner party type stuff.
Keep it lower key and traditional and you can still go “all out” for the season and not get overwhelmed by all of the sideshow stuff.

Do you have a sense that, the universe willing, when you're old and the kids are out of the house you'll look back fondly?
Already there. We are enjoying our grandkids(10 soon) immensely. I love the holidays, but I also love the other days.
My advice to you younger guys is to relax a little. Take the pressure off of yourselves. You don't have to arrive at any point at any particular time. The journey is what is important, and it should be enjoyed.
