If things can click with him and the receivers, it could be special. Kid still has tremendous upside.
1. He's not going to rush for ~75 yards a game, though.
2. He's going to have to get better and faster at making decisions (which is a truism for most college QBs).
His stat line for 2023 (mostly mop up duty):
17/33 (51.5%), 196 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT
Who will be replacing a Heisman Candidate with dozens of TDs, a 70% completion rate, rushes 75 YPG, etc.
How far is that?

He is no Daniels or Burrow. Mobility is an issue as well.

It wasn't necessarily the coaches but the desire and WANT of the individual player Jaylen did it on his own.

The biggest problem he’s going to have is that he won’t have Nabors and Thomas to throw to.

LSU will have a strong run game to lean on. Jackson and Holly will take pressure off of Nuss.

This is the correct answer. We'll be breaking in players like Sampson, Jalen Brown, Hilton and Parker. All talented, but with minimal experience. Nuss should settle down once he gets 1st team reps and can work on timing, but the staff is going to be experimenting with which WR gets the most game reps.
The mobility question is ridiculous. He's very mobile, but not a pure runner. His Sr season he had to scramble a lot. You can see his mobility.
Nuss SR mid season highlights
Burrow and JD both had inconsistent seasons as first year starters at LSU. Nuss will too. Year 2 at LSU he'll be surrounded by experienced playmakers like both Burrow and JD were in their second year. It would be nice if fans are patient and take that into account, but that's not how we roll.

Pretty hilarious how people have devalued Nuss from the offseason to now with him barely playing.
Everything is relative. Daniels basically went from being a decent but frustrating QB with great running ability, to a legitimate Heisman contender. This basically happened starting in the 2nd half against Arkansas this year. It would make sense the perceived drop-off would rise dramatically in that situation.

Nuss has talent and with a full week of game preparation will have a good game. Don't expect the production to be the same as what it would be with Daniels but it would still be a very productive offense. Might run the ball with our backs a bit more to have some play action shot plays.

How did you "feel" about Daniels after 40 passes?
Posted on 11/8/23 at 9:16 am to SwampyWaters
Off the radar; missing from top 20.

Isn’t Charles Turner a 5th year senior? If he doesn’t have eligibility left, then they will be breaking in a new Center. That COULD make a huge difference!

There will be transfers brought in and they will beat him out. I have no doubt about it.
There’s a shite ton of big time QBs who have slipped into the 2 spots on their rosters and have him circled on their lists as a major takeover target. Can he win the job? Maybe. But it’s gonna be tough and I just don’t see it happening.

We need competition at the QB position for next year which we don't have. Our new coach has not recruited a great HS QB yet. I would like to see a serious portal QB come in. There always is new Joe Burrow out there, coach has to find him.

Don’t forget about Aaron Anderson.

I was just about to post this. Saw him in high school and he didn’t have a good offensive line. He was very good extending plays with his feet and had elite wide receivers. One LSU was recruiting (not very hard because they had higher players on their board) who signed with Cal.

I have an idea, wait till next year and see.

I'm hoping he can improve and be our next QB, but from what I've seen, he would have to make incredible improvements on his accuracy and decision making to earn the job.

Which "Portal QB" that played this season, that you wish would have come to LSU.
