LSU may decrease amount of student tickets

Alleva said he will explore potentially taking away student tickets and selling more general admission seats.
“I think we have to. I’m looking at it. Those are an average of over 3,000 people that we could have put in there if students don’t want to come,” he said. “It’s my responsibility to have a full stadium and get as many people in there to support the kids.”
Some students described the Alabama game as a packed student section, with some students sitting on the steps because of a lack of room.
But Alleva said the section was not close to its capacity.
“I don’t know how wide a seat is, maybe 18 inches,” he said. “But what happens is people take up 30 inches. They spread out. They don’t get close together like they really could. If everyone sat in a seat instead of standing up and spreading out, we could obviously get that many more people in.”
Student Government President Colorado Robertson said he opposes any efforts to take away student seating and would lobby to change Alleva’s mind.
“I was disappointed to see that just 47 percent of our students attend[ed] the Troy game,” Robertson said. “But there are ways to get students to attend. We’ll be re-addressing the policies in the spring.”
Robertson said he would consider sending out student surveys to gain more input. Alleva said any potential change would be further discussed in late spring or early summer.

Just like the Troy game. Those general admission retards left while they could. The student section was the only part that stayed. Smart move.

So what do you do about the no shows who have season tickets?

This is not the year for themto start this shite. The students have plenty of ammo for this fight this year. Alleva says we could have had 3,000 people who wanted to get in, in place of the missing students? Well, he should have taken a look around the stadium at the Troy game and wondered if we should make more room for more students since more of them stayed longer than most of the nonstudent fans did.

Agreed, App St. & Troy were pretty much the only 2 games that I didn't end up in the aisle because of overcrowding, here's the deal if they're gonna take friggin tickets away, take them away from the greek section or something, example, I overhear our president at the Ole Miss game talkin to someone after the Oh-We-Oh chant saying "The Greek section gets tired easily." I'm assuming they tend to quit oh-we-ohing rather early.
I don't know how I'm not used to it by now, ever since grade school, the good ALWAYS suffer for the bad.

what a friggin idiot. I know a few students that dont' go to games because they are not able to get tickets.
Hey Alleva, why don't you go back to the old system, show up at gate with your ID and get in.

Take the $$$ from the 3,000 tickets (over 1 million a year) and put some seats in the student section. That way everyone can only take 18 inches.
Win-Win

As an alumnus, this pisses me off and I stand with the student body against this proposition. First and foremost, LSU is a university and its the student body that should be catered to. The students make the university, not the fans at a football game. The players on the field are students.
As far as the students not being there, that is not true. Y'all were there for the Troy game. As stated earlier, it is very packed in the lower parts of the student section because students want to be as close to the field as possible and to get a chance to be seen on TV. It's what you do when you're in college. It's why those 4 (or more
) years at LSU are such great years of your life that you remember and want to give back.
Take away from the students now, you take away possible future donations to the university.

This is ridiculous. It seems like every year the athletic department feels the best way to make money is to take seats away from the students. I sat in regular seats for the Ole Miss game and it was miserable to be there in comparison to the student section. One of the greatest assets to Tiger Stadium is a student section that is loud and wild. Not only does it make the game fun but plays a part in hindering other teams offenses. I can't say I'm surprised that the AD would do this, but it is still horrible to me

agreed, i'm also an alumnus, and this would really piss me off, the percentage of students at the troy game were greater than the percentage of season ticket holders, i'd be willing to bet. This is simply a ploy to make more money by selling these seats for more. If they do this it just further takes away from the mystique that is Tiger Stadium

So Robertson, if you get on this site, seriously there's your second point.
Here's your bulletins
1. That Troy game you keep pointing too, on a ratio/percentage basis, LSU students stayed more than those general admission ticket buyers and more than TAF
2. Go ahead take away tickets, then for those who cannot get tickets because of this will not be so willing to donate in the future.
Anymore suggestions on points he should make?

i'm kinda wanting to call them up right now and let them know it could hurt with donations, especially from me, not that I donate much right now

I wish you current students the best on this fight. I'm glad other alums are supporting you as well.
BTW, when I go back for games I sit in the North End Zone because the students and the people in that section are the very best of what is Tiger Stadium.

Well, here's what I'm thinking:
If and when I get this "survey" in the spring, I'll let you guys know, I do hope y'all have our backs in this, I know we don't always get along students and alumnus, BUT this is, I think at least, a special case.
If more rumblings occur, I should hear of them because I'm also going to school n the summer this time as well.
My 2 biggest problem is this is onl the ADs first year, what is he trying to become LSU's Roger Goodell? and 2 idk, that "inches" comment isn't hitting me right ...
So I'll keep y'all posted.

If everyone sat the whole game, it would look like Michigan. I know football is not the big thing at Duke, so maybe someone should explain to Joe that when students come to games in the South, and particularly LSU, they arrive early, stand up, and get loud.
I'm one of the first to get mad at students for garbage like profane chants and leaving early, but this is nothing more than a money grab.
As to the size of seats, i'm no little guy, but the way seats are crammed into the south endzone is absurd. I'd be happy with having 18" of a seat, its more like 15.

walked right into that 1 didn't i
the rant hasn't always been the biggest fan of the students, as a student I too have been critical of our section, but on the whole, I am a student, and have my sections back

Thanks Diva. I think you will find that more alums do get along with the current students. We remember our days at LSU and want you to have the same great experience that we had there.
I donate financially as well as much of my time for LSU and I do so because LSU gave me so much while I was there.

If he wants the noise to stay in tiger stadium- i guarantee grandma and grandpa with season tickets since billy cannon was around arent going to be making the same kind of noise a drunk student dressed up as batman would....
