You mean like how Cushenberry was a 3 star that we took from State that turned out to be one of the best centers LSU has ever had?

Lane can evaluate pretty well. Yes I know he’s a douche

Seems he's lacking on D evaluations

Because their D isn't that good and really hasn't been since he's been there.

Yes that’s true. He’s not had great coordinators on that side of the ball

Rankings matter in the macro, but not the micro

His offer list is pretty impressive for a 3 star.

Good tackler

You take any DB at this point with how bad this position group has been mismanaged the past two years

What exactly should have been done differently?

Obviously Kelly should have prevented injuries. Can’t believe he mismanaged that so horribly

I seem to remember we took him from Vandy, but your point is still valid!

It depends on if you're making a statement or asking a question.

I’m guessing he committed because Sam, Shea, and Billy all put their picks in right before the game.

Cush was committed to S. Carolina contemplating a flip to MSU with late in the process official visit. Offered by LSU in the eleventh hour and was a signing day flip to the good guys.

Prime example stars don’t mean shite, look at Sage Ryan labeled as a 5 star plays like he was a 2 star so that star crap doesn’t always mean anything.

I’d guess they could have landed more CB’s that don’t have discipline issues. Cypress and Amos were two they were on that don’t seem to be headcases.

We also had Austin flip and missed Ricks in the HS class. They might not have helped a ton this season, but the room looks better going in to next year with those guys. It’s going to be another big portal class at CB.

I don't agree with taking any db but it's getting to that point based on realistic options.

As for what could've been done different,
closing on hs commits that end up flipping, Austin, Ricks(his flip was behind the scenes), Evans, possibly Bates. You can't rest on your laurels once they're committed. In the NIL era no commitment matters until those late fall offers start coming. We need to adjust to that.
Evaluate portal players beyond them having ties to the state and stop believing you can fix all kids with troubles. Harris was known, Chestnut apparently a complete surprise.
Whether fault is deserved or not in many of these cases, they get paid to do better than they've done. 100 mil brings higher expectations than the norm. Right now we are still catching up to the norm filling the back end of classes with borderline takes/kids we passed on a few months ago. In Woodland's case just last week. It's alarming at the lack of options moreso than taking the limited ones we have which plays back to the original post of taking anyone you can get.

Just take a look at some of the comments above and educate yourself. You could write a novel of the missteps in recruiting and obtaining talent in the secondary since CBK arrived. That’s not up for debate. Not to say they aren’t trying to rectify the situation. One injury to JK doesn’t negate that though lmao
