Is it Pete's playcalling, or players not knowing the offense?

The blow up with Carr yesterday seems to be more about mistakes, players out of position, players not knowing their assignments, etc, then the playcalling itself.
Either way, I think this reflects somewhat on the OC. If the players don't know the assignments, you have to be able to see that in meetings / practice and not call those plays.
If it's just the playcalling, call different plays. If it's missed assignments after camp plus preseason plus 6 games... we have a much bigger issue.

Play calling is an art. You have to have a feel for the game flow and what the defense is trying to do that day vs what they try to do on a week to week basis. Combine that with some deception and slight of hand. You get the defense looking one way while you run a play the other way.
If peak Sean Payton/Drew Brees was Rembrandt, Pete Carmichael is your kindergartener bringing home their school "art".
You can't just become a good play caller, it takes talent that Pete just doesn't have.
As far as the assignment thing? Who knows. What I do know is that the players on this offense are turning on each other and the coaching staff. You can have the best army in the world but they won't fight very effectively if they don't have faith in their leadership.

Hmm. Saw this.

Alvin Kamara seemed tired of whatever it is that's happening during the week on offense too, “During this time, you can't do everything you want to do. It's a lot of sacrifice that goes into it, and to not be able to reap the reward of preparation, it's annoying. I don't like it. It's not a fun feeling."

It falls on the leadership of this team which falls on Allen's lap! We need to fire the whole staff including Loomis!

It was Mickey Loomis not drafting the right people.

Carmichael is the problem for the teams success this season. What sucks about this is that the Saints brass new early in the off-season he had a faults and they tried to cover it up with consulting Gruden.
I give Allen a pass on this debacle because as much as I wish he exhibited more fire on the sidelines as HC, I think the saints brass has set him for failure. Allen is way too good of a DC for him to not know the problems of his own offense. Once the brass made the decision on the offense path forward for 2023, Allen's only option for the sake of the team is to rally around what he has and try to minimize the team disruptions as best he can.
At this point it makes no sense for the HC to make the OC failures a bigger problem for the whole team. Allen is still fighting for wins despite the offense poor performance. His in game management has not been the reason for losses, he has actually been pretty good at it.
Many will not like this, but I think DA sticks around next year and he gets to rebuild the offense staff. I much prefer to rebuild the offense with the current D, than to bring in someone that could really mess up both sides of the ball. We have seen that too often.

From what I’ve seen on this board:
If Carr is under center and stinks it up, it’s Carmichael’s fault.
If Jameis is under center and stinks it up, it’s Jameis’s fault.

Our RBs are averaging around 3.7 yards per touch. AK is at 3.8 right now with a relatively small sample size but that is nearly a full yard less per touch than his worst year in 2021. He's somehow averaging less yards per catch than per carry. That's the scheme and play calling. Someone should be able to randomly pull plays out of a hat and get better production from Kamara.

He’s also in his 7th season

They're 3 issues that need to be resolved like everyone knows in order for the offense to move forward and start playing much better. Yeah, we all know Pete Carmichael's playcalling has been not so good to put it kindly. But the OLine of course needs to step up and start playing much better because right now both the pass blocking and run blocking are below average. The last thing is Carr who needs to start playing like he has a chip on his shoulder and not just talking like he has one on his shoulders. Since he's been there in NO he has done and said everything to look and sound like a great leader, but he's not playing like it. He needs to be more efficient in the red zone when he gets down there because that's been a big issue with him, not only in NO but when he was with the Raiders too. Dude needs to develop that killer instinct when he gets down there and throw some bullets to receivers in the endzone or just do it himself and take off and run like a madman towards the endzone to show he means business. That'll probably inspire his teammates them seeing that their QB means business. But right now, he just looks shaky and unsure of himself every time they get in the redzone.

This is consistent with what the board is saying; although, there were some PC complaints thrown in there as well.

Carr, PC & the oline have all received their share of the love here. Some have excused Carr because of PC & Oline, others what to put all the blame at Carr despite how bad PC & oline have been

There is one undeniable constant in the Saints offense for the last 15 years...
