K. And what about people who aren't internet tough guys?

You are delusional. If China or Russia ever defeated our military (they can’t) it would be child’s play to subdue the population. They would order all guns turned in under penalty of death. That would get most of them. Then they would go door to door searching.
They would torture anyone who voted Republican. First they would start with one of your children. They would torture that child to death unless you turned over your guns. If you had no guns the child would be killed and then they would assume you didn’t have any. That would get almost all of the remaining guns.
Then they would institute reprisals. Whenever an act of rebellion took place they would execute a hundred people at random. In six months the land would be at peace. That’s the reality internet tough guys would face.
Your takes are usually pretty solid but I think you are off a bit here. Hell switch an opposing force to a facist US government and I think they would still meet a pretty ferociuos resistance especially in certain parts of the county.

If 50 armed militants parachuted into your neighborhood or rolled onto your street in Toyota pickups unexpectedly at 6:30 am on a weekend morning, what is it exactly that you think would happen? Dozens of people would be dead before anyone else even knew what was happening.
Definitely not during hunting season.

They actually have some pretty strict licensing regimes that keep a good part of the populous from buying firearms. And if you fail to renew your license/application they come pick your firearm up
That has nothing to do with the arms that service-aged individuals have in these border settlements.
But regardless, my point is that it doesn’t matter how many guns you have in your house. If Hamas quite literally parachutes in to your street with several dozen armed and well equipped fighters, you don’t have a chance. You and your neighbors will kill plenty of them, sure.
But you’re going to lose in that moment. No random street in America is ready for that at dawn on a weekend holiday.
Just a silly thing to argue, IMO.

Israel is one of the most armed places on earth.
Even though is it legal for citzens to own a gun in Israel, providing they they don't have a criminal or medical record, only 1.5 % of the population has a license to own a gun.
On Sunday the National Security Director announced an emergency declaration that will "allow as many citizens as possible to arm themselves"
I bet the percentage of gun ownership will rise!

You hunt at 630 am on your residential street?

If you’re trying to make some point that Americans are more armed and prepared than Israelis in these settlements, you’re incredibly wrong.
Glad to be wrong. Based on videos I saw, they didn’t seem to be armed at all. Of course I understand the music festival people wouldn’t be armed, but I saw videos of a family cowering in a house, of terrorists calmly waking through streets. I didn’t see any with bullets flying both directions.

I didn't say the guns would protect us from biological or nuclear weapons. I said they would protect us from terrorists coming to our homes and murdering us while we huddle in a closet.
You said THIS doesn't happen. I thought you were referring to the Hamas missile attacks but you mean the extremists invading peoples homes?
Cause the US had 1.65 million home invasions last year. I own a gun and someone came in my house last year and i did not hesitate to show him.
US is very equipped to defend a ground invasion - but how good are we defending against terrorist using human shields? Attacking kids at at festival? Biological attacks. Terrorists who are essentially on suicide missions. You want to own a gun - fine, i have guns - but think about all the ways a country could attack us. We just has a mild biological attack, what if it was SARS or Smallpox?
I'm not debating you - I'm expanding the discussion. THIS is war. How equipped is the US to handle a domestic war. That includes modern weapons - dirty bombs, disease, propaganda, cyber, EMPs? That is the way they are going to get us. Not a slow moving transport in the pacific.

agree, it is hard for a ground army to invade - just like Russia is having a hard time invading Ukraine, but modern warfare is knowing computers, satellite guidance systems, biological defense.
So if they take all that down, you don’t want a gun while everyone else does?
What about during a zombie apocalypse? At some point it’s the men with guns you are going to be more worried about.
All of your scenarios are better with a gun. Even fighting over the last roll of tp.

Oh, you mean the Hamas videos?
Why would they show you armed resistance?
I swear some of you are incapable of thinking.

No way you’re on board with the “yee haw we’d just shoot em dead” narrative.
Not at this scale. This would have resulted in more deaths had it happened in the US than it did in Israel.

I’m talking about what came across Twitter.
