EXCLUSIVE: Heading into the Swift snowfall this weekend at the box office, here’s what we can tell you about the AMC-distributed film. As has already been reported, a $100M+ projection per distribution sources is in store and another $50M+ overseas (for $150M WW debut); but part of the stats indicating this come from box office analytics firm EntTelligence which is observing sellouts for Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour significantly outstripping Barbie and percent-wise that of Spider-Man: No Way Home compared to each movie’s first evenings.
Another big indicator of big business: 99% of the presales activity for the entire weekend is for Eras Tour.

Watch everybody jump on that bandwagon. Beyonce is coming out with a concert movie around Christmas. You would think all those big tours are already filming concerts for one reason or another. Seems to me you could charge $25 a ticket and get the people who didn't see the tour in the first place and double-dip the hardcore fans.

I want a re-release of The Last Waltz

I’ve seen some streamed Met Opera shows in the theater and they were pretty enjoyable.
And Hulu frequently streams music festivals. I’ve watched Austin City Limits, Bonnaroo, etc.
If it was an artist I really liked, I’d definitely check out a theater presentation of their tour. Especially now that I’m getting older and attending events like festivals aren’t always feasible.

There was a 60 Minutes segment years ago about how those Met Opera shows were a CASH COW. Think how many people there are in decent sized cities that would gladly pay $40 a ticket to see a world class production of Carmen in their local theater. And the Met has already paid for the cast, musicians, sets, costumes, lights.

Plus you won't have to worry about the venue having shitty sound like can happen when you see them live. It really blows arse when you can't hear the lyrics, the sound mix is bad, or its just too fricking loud to enjoy.

A concert movie may be one of the dumbest fricking trends cooked up.

And I think all the hedgefunds that shorted amc to hell are hoping the same thing
But it will be a game changer for people that want to see concerts but not have 5k to drop on some nosebleed seats
Watch when they start shipping concert merchandise to be sold at the theaters

Friend,
This was known two weeks ago when I got the presale email. I went to buy tickets less than an hour after the email was sent and all the shows on opening night were sold out. These were $25 tickets and did not allow A List members to use their tickets for it. For this reason a sought advice on The Money Board on whether investing in Amc was a good idea LINK While I do not think it will be nearly as good as Barbie, who deserves Best Picture this year (and Ryan Gosling Best Actor), I for one cannot wait!
Yours,
TulaneLSU
P.S. AMC had already started selling Swift popcorn buckets for $22.

Yes, the almost 60 year-old trend is really annoying

And the people who think her and Kelse are real will be lining up to buy tickets

Our daughter was invited to go see this Friday night with a group of girls. I believe it is selling out all over...
We opted out of this one, we'll do the proper thing and hit a haunted house on Friday 13!

Adults exchanging handmade bracelets with words like SWIFTCOURAGE is scarier than anything you'd see at a haunted house

I would go to the theater for a movie and there'd be a roped off line for a screen with an usher, always sold out $25 a person.
It was almost like the over 60 crowd got so excited, probably believing such twice a month offerings was all that was left for them at the Cinema.
Not all money-makers exist solely in the 24 and under demo. If you offer, they will come.
