No because it doesn't have a point besides trying to manufacture drama.
Well, what's the point of any PAT in general?

As dumb as making teams have to get 15 yards for a 1st down or the leading team's defense only gets 10 defenders after the final 2 min warning.

They should do away with the kicked extra point and five the scoring team the option to go for a 2pt conversion, but if they choose to try for 2 and they are stopped, the defensive team gets 1 pt.

1) Put a top crossbar in place - ball has to go in the rectangle

2) Points earned based on distance

Out to 30 yards - 1 pt
31-40 yards - 2 pts
41-50 yards - 3 pts
51-60 yards - 4 pts
61+ yards - 5 pts

3) On extra points, you can choose distance and placement.

4) Double points if you hit the crossbars or uprights, but you have to call it. If called and you don't hit it, one point is deducted from points on kick

Coaches already need a laminated page with 500 words on it to decide when to go for 2. That would require a Trapper Keeper with 50 pages.

Moving back the extra point has always bothered me. I remember when the goal posts in the NFL were at the goal line and an extra point was ten yards. Then to twenty yards.
What bothers me is that a 19 yard field goal is worth more points than a 34 yard extra point. It makes zero sense. An extra point is a reward for scoring a touchdown it should be the easiest kick possible.

Do it like rugby and make them kick it at the angle they crossed the goal line.

I said this a while back and got downvoted. But yes, and you can do really really wide hashmarks for it. And you'd place the ball the same way for a 1 or 2 point conversion so that makes for some really interesting 2 point tries with unbalanced lines.

Because we don't actually touch the ball down you'd have to run to the center before crossing the plane to center the try but that would be a cool bit of strategy too.

Only other fun option would be a dropkick but that's too hard.

Make it to where the extra point has to be kicked by a player that was on the field when they scored the TD
