I am a plumber and I've grown tired of working for these jaded millionaires. They want you to be a sleazy used car salesman, all while investing zero dollars into the business to help it grow. I really wish I had the capital to start my own business and just offer no bullshite customer service.Im tired of ripping people off to make the business owner rich.

Trust me, if you're a good plumber and show up when you're supposed to, there are ways you can do this and be wildly successful.

Sounds like you work for an a-hole. Find another plumber to work for.

Or - start doing some small jobs on the side and grow it into your own business. (assuming you can pass the licensing test).

The young kid roto-rooter sent to my house was definitely trained to upsell and rip people off.

OT apparently loves the plumbing trade and 85% say if they could go back they would be a plumber

With all that said maybe us Baws can do an OT crowd funding and all larp being part owners of a plumbing business

I've heard of some absolute horror stories regarding Roto Rooter. Too many to count.

What capital do you need to start? I'm in another trade, but plenty of guys get started with just a truck, tools, and insurance.

All you need is a truck, plunger, snake and pipe wrench, if it's a bigger job than basic plumbing, just don't do it. Have a list of other plumbers you can refer bigger jobs to and make an agreement with them.

Buck up and make this happen. Grindin' at your job is fine, but always grind up. Look for your next step up and make it happen.

Need a van, and about 50K in equipment to start a successful business. That 50k would be paid for within 6 months.

No. This is not the answer. You have to have specific equipment to properly diagnose problems.

while I got you here in this thread...

How easy and durable are those shark bite fittings for a diy'er? Have an outside cold water hose bib that's jacked up and I need to just cut it off and replace it.

I'll hang up and listen
