LSU Reveille staffer wants a Waffle House on campus

I guess the Zoomers aren't staying out late and hitting up Louie's, which is far and away better than Waffle House. I was so lucky to attend LSU from 2001 - 2006.

Needless to say, the "author" got dragged by the comments and he and the staff tried Louie's.

Of course he didn't like the food
Kids today are lost. So many incredible nights and fun times ended at Louie's

Interestingly, most of LSU's dining spots are ghost towns during breakfast for two main reasons: Students avoid morning classes like the plague, and the breakfast spots on campus are slightly… lackluster.

The breakfast spots on campus, excluding official dining halls, are Einstein Bros., Chick-fil-A, CC’s Coffee, Smoothie King and 3 Little Pigs Café & Eatery. That's five breakfast focused restaurants, none of which are open late, which is disappointing as most students are up at ungodly hours

As the columnist behind the Waffle House article, I was skeptical that I would approve of Louie’s. However, I was pleasantly surprised.
To start off, I didn't like the food; I got a waffle with two strips of bacon. The waffle was undistinguished—tough, flat and slightly cardboard-esque—which I strangley enjoyed. The maple syrup was pretty generic: sugary sweet. The bacon was extremely crispy, perhaps a little burnt, which I didn't enjoy. 4/10 for food.

Louie's closes at 2:30pm and has been that way for the last few years.

This sucks hard. My best meals at Louie's were a burger and beer at 4pm after an afternoon class/before a night class, and of course late night meals.

Louie's was great because we were absolutely hammered going in there at all times of the night.
If I had it now sober, I would probably think it's garbage

I had a burger and hash browns about a year ago when I had to drop my wife off at campus. It was pretty damn good for lunchtime and sober.

Well that indeed sucks. Like I said, I was blessed to go to LSU when I did.
Of course point still stands since the author’s main gripe is lack of breakfast options. He didn’t mention food at 3:00 AM after a night at Bogie’s.

It sucks that Covid killed so many great things like:
24hr wal-marts
24/hr diners
Buffets
The fact that Louie’s isn’t open late anymore is incredibly frustrating. I can’t count how many times I hung out there at 3 or 4 in the morning with friends and/or a date, not to mention how many breakfasts and lunches I ate there during the day.

Chartwell's is involved with all the campus dining
They also do athletics, that tells you all you need to know

They used to have a good cinnamon bun place in the Union basement.

He literally said that none of the breakfast places were open late at night.

Louie’s best attribute, like Waffle House, was being open 24 hours. Now that they close early they’re an afterthought.

I got a Mitchel a couple months ago. Outstanding. And I was sober.

Made striking out a good time

One of the many times I walked into Louie's after a night of drinking, we sat at booth next to Mr. Belding himself. Completely random celeb to see in person.
Man, do I miss those grilled potatoes.

Wow I did not realize they were no longer 24-hours. That really sucks.

And chimes with no blackened alligator. Next someone is going to say Ingas is closed.

Inga's is still there, but Koi closed in January after like 20 years.
