Signed up for a couple months on a cheap promo deal. I’ve looked up past threads and from what I’ve read it seems to be geared towards women like a romance novel with lots of rape. Is it worth investing time to binge?

If you're into chick flicks full of gay rape, then sure. Otherwise, avoid.

Other than the gay rape crap that already got mentioned I liked the 1st season and the second season was somewhat tolerable though not near as good as the first. After that I lost interest

havent had much sex in last 2 seasons
most recent season got into revolutionary war which has been pretty neat

overall it was better when scotland was the backdrop

another series where they are waiting for the last book to drop

Lots of softcore porn in the first few seasons, besides the gay sex scenes which are disturbing. Plot is entertaining for the most part, especially with Scotland as the backdrop. Decent amount of actual history as well.

It's decent enough but incredibly brutal when it comes to torture and rape. To be fair, there was some similarly brutal stuff in Game of Thrones as well but HBO pulled back on visually showing it fairly quickly whereas Outlander really leaned into it early on.

I would think it would be good to watch with a girlfriend or wife, if they gets stimulated from watching sex scenes. It starts out as an adventure show but turns into a period piece soap opera. I( don't have anyone to watch it with. I think I quit watching it during the 2nd season.

If you enjoy it watch Poldark IMDb on Prime. It's similar, because it's a period piece soap opera with sex and nudity, just no time travel.

I'm enjoying it. It's much more than gay rape. folks complaining about the rape scenes didn't seem to have a problem with Game of Thrones.

The 2 leads are very good. There's lots of action, lots of nudity and sex scenes.

Black Jack Randall is one of the best villains i've seen in a long time.

A-fricking-greed. Part of what makes him such a good villain is the actor who plays not only him, but his eventual descendant. Two characters who look the same but have vastly different personalities and behaviors.

The gay rape can be FFWD'd through.

First couple of seasons are very soft-core porn, but even though it eventually tones down you are to the point of "yeah, yeah, we get it... they are fricking, so let's move on" by the later seasons.

Some seasons were better than others, at times the series felt like a slog (those of the daughter in their "modern" era have felt especially plodding) but overall it's a worthwhile series to watch while waiting on other shows/movies to drop.

I watched all of Poldark and remember no nudity. But there was a rape scene.

My mom, my wife, my gf my sister, my female cousin, and my aunt all love it.

I couldn't get into it. Too soap opera-ish. I never got to the gay stuff. Only watched 2-3 episodes. Just not my thing. Most guys I know watch for their wives, gf, or SO.

Every time I see a post about Outlander, it reminds me of Highlander. Which makes me think of Talladega Nights.

To get right to the point, it's the type of show you watch with your wife!

Outlander is their most notable show, but Starz has other series that you might want to check out. Their original programming is a mess these days, but they’ve produced a number of underrated shows in the past.

A few off the top of my head:

Black Sails
Spartacus
Counterpart
Party Down

Watched the first couple seasons with my wife. Was pretty good. The gay tape stuff was hard to watch but didn’t feel gratuitous and was a big part of the plot.

After the first 2 seasons, I lost interest. Seems like it just kept plodding along with no end in sight.
