He recruited great until he gave up after winning the NC.

This is such a tired line that is repeated over and over again. EVERYBODY was happy with his classes on signing days! There were multiple 4 and 5 star guys that never panned out. For some reason, everybody blames O for that too for either not doing a good job evaluating the kid properly while recruiting them or not developing the kid when they get to school. You know who else had those kids valued that high? The recruiting sites with recruiting "experts" and every other major school in the country that those kids had offers from. Some of yall are so delusional that you can't see that sometimes kids just don't workout. It can be on the staff but most of the time it is on those kids for not putting in the work to develop into whatever talent the sites and coaches around the country saw. Saying O quit recruiting after the NC is BS. No he didn't end up working out. BUT everybody was excited for every class he brought in. If you weren't, please give examples of the kids you didn't want in the class they were in.

Look at the roster when he left and tell me he did a good job. He was a terrible roster manager.

AD deserves at least some blame for the fallout. Missing on highly rated recruits is one thing, but it’s not directly O’s fault that we had half a roster after his final season. That’s the lingering issue.

Orgeron was a moron. He was a good salesmen, which made him a good recruiter IF someone aimed him at the right recruit. He simply could not organize the 40 or 50 processes required to run a college football program. Anyone who thought he could was delusional.

The original plan with Orgeron was that we were hiring a moron who was incapable of being a real head coach. But we are going to underpay him and use the excess money to surround him with the best staff. It briefly worked because Les Miles had the administration, inherited from Saban, running like a top. After 2019, when he lost Aranda and Ensminger, it was curtains for that buffoon.

We should have stuck with the plan, and told Orgeron, “You’ll get a 20% raise but no more.” We will use the rest that you think you deserve to hire the two best coordinators in all of football. Had they done that, and hired an excellent administrator who could point Ed at the right recruits, tasks, etc., and if they could have focused Ed on football instead of broads, maybe they could have kept it going.
