Pictures look good. Maybe they should actually open a steakhouse

My wife seasons her steak how she prefers and I cook it. We have different preferences so we season our own meats

we always split one steak at home. We like NY Strips and they’re huge. I eat maybe 1/3 and he eats the other 2/3.

What part of this is a prank?

They got actual permits. It was legal. It was an actual restaurant for one night and people paid what sounds like a reasonable price for the food/experience.

It was a prank. They made the illusion of a restaurant that didn't exist that people would make reservations for. That's a prank.

Then they actually opened for one night. While it was a real legal restaurant technically (presumably) at that point, people probably thought it was run by professionals with professional chefs, etc. That's another prank. Pranks don't have to be illegal or malicious in any way.

This video will better explain it. LINK

After watching that I get it. They added things like a fake proposal, stalker fans outside the restaurant to make it look like someone famous was there, a sommelier who couldn’t open a wine bottle properly. But it didn’t seem like a prank as much as some elaborate performance art.

"It was good," Frishberg offered. "It was very garlicky. I would not say it was restaurant grade."

I'll take How to completely illegitimize your opinion in two sentences or less Alex.

I use a full fricking bulb of garlic everytime on my cast iron and crisp the cloves. My wife and I love eating it with the steak.

Open an actual steakhouse and you’ve got all sorts of hoops to jump through with your local government.

Open a fake one and who cares about permits.

Actually seems like they did get permits. Which still seems odd. You usually don’t get a quick turn around on those. You need diff people to sign off on that, like the fire marshal.

Also wonder if they made money or collected sales tax.

Seems like a lot for a “prank”.

It’s not really a fake restaurant once you start cooking food and serving it to people for money.

It was. Professional is just a fancy word for “doing something in exchange for payment”.

Believe a guy did this in England a few years ago to expose how easy it is to manipulate Yelp’s algorithm.
