This will get struck down as discriminatory. You can’t mandate a single industry pay more than everyone else.
Franchisers will threaten to close if the parent companies don’t fight this. The parent companies skim off the top of profits, so they’ll file the suits.

How long before they blame the greedy businesses when they raise prices?

I’m still curious to how Panera got a carve out due to a bakery on site.
Subway may have backdoored that due to making their own bread.

Oh no the horror of not going to a fast food job....
So which is it??
1) Fast food is not meant to be a long term job just a first job or one to get working experience at.
Or
2) They “deserve a livable wage” to support a family at a job they have worked at for an extended period of time?

The ramifications will be a lot more automation, then they'll tax fast food places more, and then those places will simply leave California.

Looks like we will be losing the best of our fast food force to California

McDonald's needs to go fully automated. McDonalds by me is shite. Mainly because of the customer service of the employees is abysmal. Any time you go in there, most of the employees are just joking with each other and ignoring all customers.
I've always assumed the owner of this particular McDonalds is white... because they are seemingly afraid to fire those employees.

That’s 40k a year for a job that was never intended to be a family supporting career goal.

Get ready for closings, high prices, reduced portions, less employees, hours cut, benefits cut, automation, long waits, and low standards

The left can’t meme.
A burger fool job pays more than welfare but is meant to support one person at best, and typically where they are sharing housing with others.
If you can be the breadwinner for a family of 3 or more on a job there below management, you must have the lowest cost of living in the country.

One of the wineries I’m a member at starts their wine pourers off at $52/hr and they can’t keep employees. Most quit because they are required to wash glasses after the tastings.

Why just fast food workers? Don't housekeepers deserve a living wage? Don't ditch diggers deserve to eat. How is a man who has been digging for 10 years supposed to feed his family?

Personal responsibility for bad decisions is never part of the equation for leftists.
Damoaner probably managed to graduate high school without becoming a father, maybe even made it through college without becoming a husband or parent. But also thinks that someone who assed off their education, popped out a kid or two in high school, and never marrier their baby daddy(daddies) should make a living wage for a family at a fast food joint as an uneducated, unskilled worker. Brilliant.

Food Trucks is the fastest growing business in California. Labor and management in the same person. Lots of cash to take home.
Franchises cannot compete with a food truck quality and cost
