How addicted are you to your phone?

I’m embarrassed that I turn around to get it if I leave the house without it…
Posted on 9/26/23 at 7:13 pm to RGThorny
I’m literally staring at it right now.

Gotta have it while I poop and use it for work. I’m bummed if I leave it at the house but that’s mainly because I like to use Waze wherever I go.

I hate myself more every day for it.

So addicted I got the Apple logo tattooed on my face right below my "TD" face tat.

More than I like to admit.

More than I’d like to be. But I can also put it down and not worry about it for a while without issue.
I find myself looking stuff up far too often though.

Not very. I rarely use it other than to monitor tigerdroppings.

Embarrassed?

My screen time average is 5 hours per day each week. It’s fricking embarrassing and I hate it.

I am much more addicted to my laptop than to my phone.

I started leaving it out of my office and now I only used it for an hour a day or so. It's really nice. Most week days I go to bed and it's still more than 80% charged. I'm usually less pissed off, had a better day at work, and sleep better.

Don't really give a rat's arse about a phone. I have a flip-phone, and not one of those newer fancy ones, just your basic phone that cost me about $20 two years ago.
I don't text, don't use it to take pictures to document every minute of my life to be posted on Facebook or Twitter since I have neither of those accounts to begin with.
I've got maybe 20 numbers in my "Contacts" list and if I get a call with a number that I don't recognize, I don't answer it.
Yeah, I'm that guy...........

Everywhere I go people are staring at their phones…Dr office, grocery cashiers, people driving, construction workers. I saw a guy today on a riding mower staring at his phone. And it’s not just young people. Old people are just as guilty. Not us Americans. Last time I was in Thailand MRT mass transit…yup, everyone staring at their phones. I’m really starting to 2nd guess that smart phones are great inventions. Sure it’s convenient, connected, and we have all this info at our fingertips. But at what cost?
Lately, if I just got in my car and the phone is in the house, I say frick it and let it ride. The old me would be “what if I get an engine failure”. But nothing ever happens. I think the Phone makes us more dependent on it and we feel the need to have it on us 24/7.

I thought I was not. Try going on a retreat where no cells are allowed.
Here is my proof to myself I am addicted. I kept reaching for my back pocket whenever Inwould do things like sit down or especially stand up to go somewhere. I kept checking for it making sure it was there (I do this because I like to misplace my phone)
