F the unions....They are saying that 75% of people support them going on strike.

I guess I am in the 25%.
I hope the Auto makers Bring the pain. I would have told them "Okay you want to strike"
If you walk, I'm going on Vacation and you will see me in a month. I wouldn't even talk to them for 1 month.

If everyone would just drive their vehicles longer than 2 years we could shut some of this up.

I'll be honest, I've been anti modern union for most of my life. And I still have a lot of that sentiment.
But I can't help but notice that it often results in a default position of being pro-corporation in a way that has brought us (traditional Americans) very little in return. To the contrary, in nearly every meaningful fight those corporate interests we've backed have eventually turned against us.
I think the reality is for the neutral, traditional American, you're probably on the sideline here as neither side in this battle serves your ends.
But I can't help but notice that it often results in a default position of being pro-corporation in a way that has brought us (traditional Americans) very little in return. To the contrary, in nearly every meaningful fight those corporate interests we've backed have eventually turned against us.
I think the reality is for the neutral, traditional American, you're probably on the sideline here as neither side in this battle serves your ends.

I understand that they were necessary back in the past and they served a purpose for as you say fair wages and safe conditions, but I think now they are not much different than the modern MOB.
Any job you work you have the ability to accept or leave the job based on what the pay and conditions are.
If I need 40 people to work my site. If I want to pay a guy with 15 years experience $40/hr and pay a guy with 5 years experience $30/hr then that is my business. The 5 year experience guy doesn't have to take the job.
By the same point, I have paid you $40/hr to do a job...It isn't your place to say well what I built you sold for $5K dollars...worker B is getting $40/hr for something his employer sells for $2K.
I should get a bigger piece.

I guy I worked in my department had worked in a UAW plant. He was a hard working guy, but he said if he did more than the minimal the shop steward would "crawl up his arse."
There were two identical Ford plants with one being in England and the other in Germany. The German plant produced over twice as many cars than the strike prone Brit plant. Not hard to guess which one was more competitive in the international market.

This isn't about safe working conditions. This is about money and like most things it does effect us. It effects everyone because we you go to buy a car the first 4-5K now goes to cover legacy cost set up by past union deals.
It is simply Math...If Joe is working the Factory Line making 80K/yr and wants a 50% increase that means he goes to $120k/yr and then he retires and 4 years and collects $60K for life adding $20 to each year of retirement.
Those costs keep adding up and causes the cost of goods to rise.
Just like paying people $15/hr to work at BK sounds like a great deal until everything goes up by $1+ an item.

Unions were good and needed in the early stages, but over time, they became an arm of the Mafia and the Gov’t.
Modern Day Unions need to be chopped T the knee caps, it’s too much power and drives prices thru the roof.
Retiring at 50 With full benefits etc etc…
Cannot be fired
Everywhere there is Unions, costs of service and product is usually double or more than double.
Takes more time for Unions to
Perform the work etc.
I’m in the Maritime Business, and Union vs. non-Union docks are night and day, and I’ll take “Non-Union” every day all day.
No offense to any Union guys out there, I see your side of the argument, but it’s become too powerful and hurts the overall American workforce to compete globally.
And it’s the UNIPARTY / Dems mostly that the Unions supported all these years that those same politicians sold their souls to
Outsource Manufacturing and killed the Midwest most of all.

I have never cared if companies make money. That is what they are there for. The only people that companies are responsible to are their shareholders.
Shareholders are the only ones that should care what CEO pay is.
As a shareholder I am not their to provide jobs, I am there to make money. If that means closing less profitable divisions then so be it.

All companies would pick manufacturing in the US from a quality and talent perspective if the labor cost and regulations were just halfway reasonable.
