Can anyone give me a rough idea if I built a fence vs hiring someone to build a fence?

150 ft of fencing.

Really not trying to do anything crazy, may go as basic a possible... but open to something nicer.

Appreciate any feedback.

First thing, do you want wood or chain link?

But either way, the answer is hire someone.

Looking at a recent invoice we did a 173 LF of 6ft. privacy fence, with 3 rows of wood rails (always go with three runs not 2), for $2,500.

This one had metal posts that we reused though, but but it included removing the old fence slats so it semi offsets the price.

There is not much money to be made in a smaller fence job, one of the more reasonable trades to just pay someone to do it.

I received quotes everywhere from $25-$32/LF in central Alabama area.

for the love of everything holy, don't go with treated pine. that's the absolute worst.

Where or who did this job?

That price range sounds better than some of the estimates I’m receiving right now…

How much are the estimates you’re getting? Storm just blew down parts of ours.

Pinnacle in BR did ours for a competitive price. We had horizontal cedar with 2 10’ gates and it was around $40/ft. Pine and vertical fencing would be closer to $20/ft.

I did a 3 rail cedar screwed everything several yrs ago for $12 a ft. I’m sure today your cost may be a little more but I did it myself for half of what the fence guys wanted.

Think we just paid 6k for 200sqft here in FL. Vinyl. The material alone if we did it ourselves would have been 4 to 4500

Vinyl more expensive than wood though

just think the 5-6K pricing is too much, think for some reason it should be more around 2-3
