the Pentagon said on Friday that it had designated assistance for Ukraine, codenamed “Operation Atlantic Resolve” has been marked in its contingency plans as “essential” spending that would continue.

Oh Thank God

So glad that we have our priorities in order and no matter what happens that we will make sure to keep funding our foreign proxy wars.

Good. Just make sure it’s reported so some of these people will finally wake up.

Yeah, this is what we get with last minute‘Omnibus Bills’; a blank check for whomever has the power to cash it. Legal or criminal/ corrupt power. McCarthy should introduce a Ukraine Defund Bill, for e a vote and then lead the Republicans out of Congress when this crap continues. What else are they going to do…come take the guns? The Constitutional Republic is done any way we cut it. God only knows what comes next.

So the Pentagon now is in control of the purse strings

Ukraine is “essential“.

But border security in this country is left wide-open

Maybe I'm ignorant, but ya?

Otherwise, wouldn't the FAA have to ground all air traffic?

Or is there some other exception I'm not aware of for things like that?

I'm not aware that Congress passes partial budgets for certain services but maybe they do.

This is always the case. They’ll chain-lock the public bathrooms on the National Mall in a big show of how government is unable to provide basic services during a shutdown however.
