Am I the only one that finds it amusing when the news and politicians make a shutdown out to be a bad thing? News flash: I hope it shuts down and NEVER reopens.

The US government will not work if it cannot pretend to be in crisis mode 100% of the time.

But I blame voters for that. By enlarge they're idiots who are to lazy to educate themselves.

Govt shutdown looming
Dems blame Pubs and fear monger for upcoming default
Pubs say they’re fighting to cut spending
Pubs cut nothing deal at last minute
Everyone gets paid….taxpayers get fricked

Rinse. Repeat.

It's hilarious how they call it a "government shutdown".

There have been a few government "shutdowns" since I've been an adult, and in not one of them did I get to stop paying taxes.

I blame the universal suffrage system that pretends the opinions of the uneducated are important.

This^

This country can not survive as a Constitutional Republic allowing Cheetoh eating, hair net wearing, Taco Bell fighting, welfare recipients the right to vote.

Or the 3-week shutdown with an additional taxpayer paid vacation so these lazy corrupt SOBs can hang out at home and do nothing.

The number of “essential” employees in the fed gov is insane.

IIRC, the guy shoveling elephant shite at the National Zoo is considered “essential.”

We might need to keep the Department of Interior open so we can keep drilling and producing on inshore and offshore Federal Lands.

Though last time there was a "shutdown", those folks who were critical for such things with industry kept working.

I miss the real government shut downs like the Democrats used to do during Nixon and Reagan.

Now, they knew what a real shut down.

When did we get to the point where the debt ceiling needs to be raised every few months? How does anyone think this is sustainable?

The debt is growing so fast I’m not sure they can keep up with it anymore.

Wow.

You would rather disenfranchise the ignorant than educate them.

That pretty much says it all.
