One of the best series on TV
The original X-Files aired from September 1993 to May 2002 on Fox.
Initially considered a cult series, it turned into a pop culture touchstone that tapped into public mistrust of governments and large institutions and embraced conspiracy theories and spirituality.

Feel like it was prophetic in many ways. Watched a lot of season 1 today.

With all the recent publicity about ufos, I would love to see this series make a comeback.

They tried.
May be time to get some new leads. Have it in the same universe, but let others take the lead.

You say it premiered on televison thirty years ago today but how do we know it was not all just one big government conspiracy?

I liked the one where everyone in the town was a vampire and Mulder held up two breadsticks in the shape of a cross.

And we are still no closer to uncovering the nature of UFOs or aliens.

Still my favorite show. Great plots, great characters and acting.

How does it hold up today? Haven't watched an episode in years

I'm doing a rewatch now and haven't watched it since it first came out. Still awesome. I'm near the end of season 3 and enjoyed every episode. I didn't remember this but they do throw in some random silly episodes that are pretty funny.
Season 3 EP 20 was the recent on with Ventura in it. Fairly random and fun episode.

Every time the sheriff threw in a "blankity blank" i'd get a good laugh.

I was pretty obsessed with this show. The wife as well. It hit right at the perfect time when their core viewers were also the second wave of settlers in the world wide web. Every fourth Geocities website seemed to be focused on X-Files.
Friday nights with Sliders and X-Files, eating pizza while the kids watched their Blockbuster rentals in our bedroom. Good times.

Weren't they going this direction with the recent reboot? Or was it later in the original series (and I'm not talking Doggett and the other chick, there were some younger agents).
At any rate, sounds like there's a possible reboot coming with Ryan Coogler attached to it. LINK
ETA:
Found the duo I was talking about, it was agents Einstein and Miller from the 2016 season. More of a (way over the top) nod to Scully/ Mulder than new leads.

My favorite episode was one of the recent reboots.
Mulder and Scully are in a fully automated setting.
The sushi robots screw up their order, so Mulder doesn't leave a tip. The robot cashier writes, "Are you sure you don't want to leave a tip?."
Everything from automated taxis to flying drones are throughout the show, giving Mulder and Scully grief for not tipping the sushi robot. Mulder and Scully maybe say only a couple of words to each other.
I was kinda buzzed when I watched it, so it's a pretty hazy.
Anyone else remember this particular episode.
