Sofia Coppola, who's her audience?

She definitely has her own style.
Is she good? Do people enjoy her movies?
People have called her movies a pointless bore-fest.
1. Lost In Translation (2003) (favorite)
2. The Virgin Suicides (1999) (slow, sad, weird, confusing)
3. Marie Antoinette (2006) (underrated)
4. The Beguiled (2017) (she remade it in her style but not any man's cup of tea).
On the Rocks
Slow, meditative, visually crisp...mostly stange.

I’ll never forgive her for Godfather 3

Virgin Suicides had a kind of emo chick demo, but not sure about the rest of the stuff - euro hipsters?
I really like her stuff, btw. Narratively adrift at times, sure, but modern ennui is the core of her style. Somewhere with Dorff is a prime example.
Her brother Roman has carved out a nice career as frequent Wes Anderson collaborator. I like how he and Sofia don’t fit squarely into a box.

I’m not sure of a very specific audience, but I give her credit for
some well-made thoughtful,unorthodox films
dealing with unique, but very human, characters.

Yeah, she was terrible in that, but I don’t blame her. That one is on her dad.

I saw a trailer for her upcoming movie "Priscilla" about Priscilla and Elvis Presley. The actress seemed to be a good fit for the role. As for the guy playing Elvis... those are some big shoes to fill. Elvis was so unique looking and charismatic.
Lost in Translation I really enjoyed, even the ending.

I also really liked Somewhere with Stephen Dorff and Elle Fanning.
Targeted audience intentional or not..introspective introverts?

Hated Virgin Suicides, which I felt was more of a first-time feature director's vanity piece. However, I absolutely loved Lost in Translation, which I thought was a great piece of art and human experience. It felt like it was helmed by a matured director. I get why Lost is so polarizing though. You kind of have to be at a point in your life to get the thematic underbelly.
ETA: I haven't seen the others.

Even if they cast Winona Ryder it'd still be weird as frick that when the character is introduced to us she is hardcore flirting with her cousin.

Wasn't she an emergency, last second replacement?
