Woj:

ESPN Sources: Pelicans G/F Trey Murphy III underwent surgery to repair a slightly torn left meniscus and is expected to miss 10-to-12 weeks. That timeline could have him back in mid-November.

So that means he could be back by December.

So January.

The team is actually being transparent about the type of procedure he had, when he had it, and who performed it. This establishes a reliable timeline. 10-12 weeks is on the conservative side with a meniscectomy and there is no way he shouldn’t be back by December 1st. If he isn’t, it is a severe indictment on their rehab team.

That surgery normally back to basketball is 6-8 weeks but our staff for some weird reason loves to extend medical recovery timelines. New staff=same bullshite.

The first quarter of the season is gonna be rough with the lack of perimeter shooting. We need to get off to a good start too with so many home games.

A lot of this is on the front office. You can’t be that reliant on one guy shooting the ball that if he gets hurt we literally have no 3 pt shooting. In a game dependent on making the 3 pt shot we literally dont have any shooters. In fact we have 2 guys in our rotation as role players who are horrendous shooting the 3(Jones and Dyson). Others who barely try shooting it (Zion and JV) and then the avg 3 pt shooters (BI and Jose).

They wasted no time getting the surgery. We should get him back by late December early January which isn't the end of the world.

Four months for a meniscectomy is absolutely ridiculous. Trey will be rehabbing multiple times a day. High school athletes return in 6-8 weeks.

They also have this guy cj mccollum. Believe it or not he can shoot 3s.

It must be more significant than they are leading on bc 10-12 weeks is a long projection for a slight tear in the meniscus. Generally those are in the 4-8 week range.

I do have faith in Trey meeting the projection to return deadline though unlike Gumbo.

If his recovery takes a full 12 weeks, that takes you into December. Then he'll need to ramp up and get to 5 on 5s before they'll play him. Mid November is probably the most optimistic projection and as a Pels Fan, that never happens.
