Flying into Denver in December and going to Breckinridge. What’s the best form of transportation? Uber , charter or rent vehicle?

To get from the airport up to Breckenridge?

Are you comfortable driving in snow and mountains? how many people will there be? Are you staying somewhere that is ski in/ski out or will you need to uber or catch buses while you are there?

The shuttles are decent if you aren't going to need a car for most of the stuff you plan on doing there, but they don't save a ton of money if you have a few people in the group.

It’s just 3 of us . Will not be doing much skiing. More snowmobile, snow shoe and tours . I’ve torn 2 ACLs . We will need transportation back and forth from airport and Breckinridge though . I’m good with snow . I read there’s not extreme amount of snow in December though . We are just trying to enjoy Christmas with real Christmas weather

Breck might be cheaper, but it was far cheaper for us to rent a car than do the shuttle/limo service to Vail.

I’d rent a vehicle. Especially if you’re going to do activities such as snow machining . You’ll need a ride to the spot.

Built up? No. But there can and will be large amounts of snowstorms in December.

You'll be more comfortable with your own transportation since you'll be moving around with different activities. Rental looks to be your best option.

Last year United had a bus from DIA to Breck. The bus had its own gate and they transferred your luggage.

Rent a car. That’s what we always do. The Turo scene at DIA is great. Grab an AWD suv or suburu.

Yeah I think your right . Definitely a AWD or 4x4 . Will be a little nervous driving 90 miles in the mountains and snow though

They do a jam up job of maintaining those roads through some brutal conditions. Just stay in the far right lane as much as possible and keep it at a speed you’re comfortable with and you’ll be fine. The locals get a little testy while they’re buzzing around you 90mph in snowstorms but they’ll get over it. I’ve done it a dozen or so times in some pretty heavy snow.

Also: if you rent a Tesla, figure out how to put it in low torque mode in the snow. My buddy rented one and insisted the weight of the battery was going to make it great in the snow. We proceeded to have a terrifying drive on I70. Pulled over in Frisco to get groceries and a guy who has seen us on the interstate was like “Hey man, my other car is a Tesla. You need to put it in low torque mode for the snow”. The rest of the ride was fine. Hah.

Years ago I priced a shuttle and it was roughly even with renting a car. Add a few passengers and the rental car wins.

Also, we rented a full size awd sedan which did fine in the mountains with three guys and plenty of gear. Lots of people rent a suburban or explorer and it costs more. No need.

The price of the shuttles has increased significantly over the past 5 or 6 years. It's not really worth the hassle anymore.

I don't pretend to understand this. You pay more than a rental car, have no freedom to try some different ski spots or go out for dinner... who does this?

Unles there is a rental car shortage which I have seen firsthand in denver.

With the way people with red license plates drive in the snow, I wish it was more of you. 4wd does nothing to help you stop, nothing.

Every year I ask Santa for the same thing, dont let these people ski like they drive.

AMen, I've lived in some serious snow territory in my life. Some folks bellyache about 4wd. Dude it's 4wB and every car out there has it. All four brakes working all the time, ever since like 1920 or something. And ABS across the board since like 1992 or so.
