I'll be curious to see the trajectory of FSU/Norvell from here.

At ND, Brian Kelly gave more than a few programs and coaches fools gold wins.
In 2013, a struggling Brady Hoke and #17 Michigan beat #14 ND, which temporarily cooled down Hoke's seat, but Michigan still finished 7-5, unranked, and fired Hoke the next year.
In 2014, #9 ASU beat #10 ND to climb to #6 in the country before losing 2 their final 4. The ND win and the #6 ranking was far and away the high watermark of the program during Todd Graham’s tenure. Graham was kindly asked not to return a few years later.
Perhaps Kelly's most famous fools gold win was 2016, when Charlie Strong's unranked Texas beat #10 ND in OT, and Strong was carried off the field. Texas made it to #11 in the country by week 3, before finishing 5-7 and firing Strong at the end of the season.
Kelly's second most famous fools gold win was Miami 2017 where Mark Richt and the #7 Hurricanes blasted #3 ND 41-8 to rise to #2 in the nation. Miami lost their last 3 games of the season, all by double digits, and Richt resigned a year later.
IN Michigan 2019, Harbaugh was feeling a lot of heat with Michigan being unreanked a week after losing to PSU. A game against Kelly gave him the exact tonic he needed, as his unranked Michigan team beat #8 ND 45-14. Unlike the others, Harbaugh has actually managed to turn the corner.
Over the years, big wins against Brian Kelly have usually proven to be little more than temporary seat coolers and not inflection points for programs. It'll be interesting to follow FSU and Norvell, and see if he defies this trend. I actually think he may and is building something sustainable in Tallahassee.

Sure they could slip up just as anyone can but looking at their schedule they should be favored in the rest of their games.

FSU is really good their offense is very hard to stop but it can be done u just have to put up points as well to keep up. LSU was in control up until that 3rd and 6 when Lacy dropped the ball that’s when the team started losing confidence.

If we are half as good as we think we are, they should finish the season undefeated, unless they self implode and have a hiccup.

Just realizing how often a highly ranked BK team is blown out.
We have seen a few here too already. . Best get used to it.

There was a reason ND fans weren't sad to see him go.

He was 54-9 the last 5 years there and they were stunned and dismayed when he left.

I don't think fools gold will be an issue with FSU/Norvell. The FSU DL is legit and their QB and WR's are legit. They were on an upswing later in the year like LSU was, but they came out looking better than where they left off. While LSU did not look better.
So I think you are asking if the FSU ranking and win over LSU is a fluke and if they will be exposed later this year. I don't think so. It wasn't a "fools gold win" last season and it won't be this season.

If telling yourself that makes you feel better great. But it ain’t true. Most of that 54 was against garbage competition and most of the 9 was against elite competition with a few of the standard BK head scratchers thrown in. A not insignificant portion of those 54 victories against lesser teams also proved to be more difficult than it needed to be.

FSU is good this year. Norvell has put together a good team. I think good enough to win it all. But they will fall hard after this year. They will get gutted after this year and haven’t recruited at a high level the last few years. Some nice classes but he will have to hit the portal very hard to compete next year.

FSU is good, but not nearly as good as what we made them look. Their defense is suspect. LSU probably wins the game if we don’t turn it over on downs twice in the first half. Should’ve been up by at least two touchdowns heading into halftime. Complete coaching failure.

Always a moving target with these kinds of discussions. In the moment Notre Dame fans would have scoffed at the idea that their schedules are lesser than what SEC teams play.
Now all the sudden 54/63 games were against garbage teams.

Being “stunned and dismayed” that he left is completely different from being not sad that he is gone.

Actually those of us that knew, well we knew. And we were giddy as hell when BK left town. The stuff everybody is complaining about on this board isn’t a new phenomenon with BK. It’s who he is and always will be. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him eventually bench JD this year and go with Nuss. Nuss will probably play pretty well. If the trend follows it’s far more likely Nuss will either flatline or regress next season. BK has a pretty long track record of ruining QBs. Denbrock won’t go anywhere unless Woody forces BKs hand to do something or if Denbrock chooses to go elsewhere on his own. There’s about 12 years of trend you can look up to see how this movie plays out. The only difference this time is LSU may actually shitcan BK instead of allowing him to walk away on his own terms.

Even to the extent that's true, it's normal and natural to be ready for a change after 15 years or whatever it is unless your coach is Nick Saban
To try to spin that into him not being a good coach is ridiculous, his resume speaks for itself and he's won big everywhere he's been.
Cue the "but never won anything", ignoring Notre Dame isn't in a conference and has limitations that make winning a title there extremely difficult in the modern age.

FSU is legit this year. Only thing that will prevent them coasting into playoffs is injuries. They're going to win the ACC. They might slip up 1 game to a division rival somewhere but I think they're going undefeated. I said all off season that team was mega talented and could beat Georgia/Bama with that talent. They're top 3 in talent right now in the country. They proved it in this game too by complete domination. Look at how they beat LSU and dismantled us. Their physicality was on another level. I know LSU looked bad but it's because FSU forced it.

What will be interesting to see is how FSU looks when a big, physical CB is able to slow down Coleman. Wilson played pretty well but had some big drive-killing drops of his own while Travis, under pressure, frantically threw a pass directly to Brooks and Perkins, which was not 6 for LSU simply because they both interfered with each other.
I’m not saying they’ll lose. But it will be fun to see what happens with them
