Yep Travis crushed us with it. Our pressure on him wasn’t very strong but the few times we had it he made a play

Good lord lol. 10 yards? 5 yards probably is a stretch. It’s more like a step or two. Have you never seen a QB purposely under throw a wide open receiver?
Lunacy. He underthrew it on purpose to bring the defender in play? Please be real

Look how Jordan Travis extending plays with his legs and throwing on the run. Totally killed our D.
JD probably does that against our secondary in practice

You be real. The ball hit BTJ in the gut. Was it a step or so underthrown? Yes. Was it 10 yards underthrown? No.
Should it have been caught!l? Yes.
End of story.

Flashbacks to OBUDan (I think) shitting in Lee after the Oregon game
Posted on 9/5/23 at 4:28 pm to TeddyPadillac
It’s really amazing how you can study tape from above and find open receivers when the QB is right there surrounded by guys coming at him trying to kill him can’t throw to the open guy you want but to another open guy.

That pick play to BTJ was wide freaking open and idk how anyone could dispute that when it's right there on video.
Some of these examples weren't all on JD, true enough, but yall are discounting many of the ones that are clearly JD's fault. He made bad reads and bad throws routinely in the game.

Because all you have to look at is the defender breaking on the route from the inside. He saw it developing and broke on it, JD moved to his next option.

He missed that one. He also can’t go 50/50 with 50 TDs like the majority of this board expects

3rd and goal from the 1. ... Great catch by Nabors on an absolutely horrible throw.
It would have been a great catch if Nabors had kept his feet in. It was a tough play for him, but if the WRs are as good as many here thought, he would have made that play. Everyone keeps saying that JD needs to throw the ball and trust his WRs. Well he did just that on that play and it didn't work out. Definitely not a "great catch" and not "an absolutely horrible throw".

agree with many of the issues here.
keep in mind that these were issues discussed by the media, coaches and The Rant last season.
i remember someone said these issues would be addressed in the off season.
the same problem we all recognized from last season is carried over to this season.
FSU coaching staff no doubt watched plenty of film on LSU football.
no running game makes it much easier to defend the LSU offense.
very disappointing to say he least

The throw was bad, bad anyone ignoring the fact that it should have been caught and in the red zone need their brain examined
Agreed. It also feels like a ball that Brian Thomas could have tried to go get. Like this throw between Burrow and Chase LINK (48 sec mark) I always wondered if it was under thrown or that's where he wanted to go with it. Either way Chase was going to make the play

Fair assessment but some of those drops were really crucial and you can’t blame him.
Posted on 9/5/23 at 4:41 pm to TeddyPadillac
So many of these are very easily disproven. JD didn't have a great game but it wasn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. His receivers HAVE to play better.
quote:Lacy fricked that route up and Daniels had to move onto the second read. Couldn't wait all day for THomas to get out of the screen.
3rd and goal from the 1. pick play for Brian Thomas who is wide open. doesn't get the ball thrown to him. Great catch by Nabors on an absolutely horrible throw.
quote:No one was open, should have thrown it anyway.
4th and goal from 1. single coverage on all 4 wideouts, doesn't throw the ball to anyone. I would add i thought they all ran terrible routes, but Lacy would have been an easy TD throw. It's 4th down! You have to throw the ball!
quote:Tipped pass where the receiver was held he threw it where Malik would have been.
end of 1st quarter on a 1st and 10, just a terrible throw to an open guy. Read the blitz right and threw it to the right place, clean pocket, just abysmal throw that was bailed out for a PI call.
quote:Nabors is likely the 4th read on this play and he had no time to get the ball to his 4th read.
Right before the end of the half, wide open Nabors right in front of his face, holds the ball and almost gives up a fumble deep in our own zone.
quote:Pretty obvious there was confusion on the route here.
just a pathetic throw to an open Nabors for a TD right before the half.
quote:At no point in this play is Nabors open. There's a linebacker in front of and behind him the entire time
Last play before 1st half, Nabors is running across the field wide open, good chance to score a TD.
quote:Nabors isn't running up the right side? He's running to the middle of the field. Lacy scores if he catches the football.
3rd and 10 and punted after this. While this one was a drop, and could have been a TD of Lacy catches it, it's a single high safety with Nabors already beating his man up the right side. Throw the ball up to him. He looks right at him and doesn't throw it.
quote:underthrown ball that still should have been caught.
end of 3rd, just a terribly underthrown ball to a wide open Thomas for a TD.
quote:bad pass.
3rd and 6 middle of the 3rd, even if Nabors doesn't slip, it was still a terrible throw that would have been intercepted, to a receiver that wasn't going to be open.

People are going to see what they want to see on JD depending on their pre-determined opinion on him. If you don't like him, he played horrible and was the primary reason we lost. If you like him, he had a great game and everyone around him let him down. The reality is somewhere in between: Daniels had a very average night, much like just about every other player and coach on the field
We didn’t lose because of him and he wasn’t outstanding enough to where we could win because of him either.
Some of those catches get made and the game changes.
Some other throws get made and the game changes.
I say that as a Daniels fan who has moved on. I think 10-2 is our ceiling with him.
With 2019 talent around him we can go undefeated with the guy. We won’t be running up the score but we could win every game.
But we don’t have 2019 talent.

Would they have caught the ball???

Just curious. Why do JD's fans get so butt hurt when they see this evidence? Why are JD's feelings more important to you than winning football games?

Damn, you point out 11 plays and you are only 100% correct on 1 and partially correct on three others. In order:
1. This is a stretch and LB sees Thomas and is closing the window. Not a terrible decision to go elsewhere at that point. I do think he could have made the throw so I'll give you a partial here.
2. Pre-snap he determines to go left first. No one is open. By the time he progresses right, he's got a defensive lineman in his face and one behind. And Lacy was blanketed. Tried to make a move and it didn't work.
3. It was PI because the defender pulled back on Nabers otherwise this was a dime.
4. The FSU corner blitz blew this up making the throw to Taylor difficult. Plus Taylor had a man on his heels. I'll give you half credit here because it's fourth and you need to try something.
5. Blasted from the blindside as he's about to throw the route you wanted. Many are criticizing you for confusing Thomas for Nabers. But you were actually correct. Nabers comes open deeper down the field and JD is reading it and holding to making that throw on the break. Had JD known Verse was about to blindside him, I'm sure he throws to Thomas on the shallow. But he was looking to throw to the intermediate route to Nabers.
Also Lacy dropped a first down on the play before.
6. Should have put air on it, I agree. Full credit here.
7. #6 is in his grill in 1.5 seconds. No time for Nabers to make his move.
8. Lacy drops a perfectly throw ball for a first down and you critique him for not throwing to a different open receiver.
9. I agree it was a TD with more air. But Thomas also drops it. If he hangs on we have it 1st down at the 11 yard line.
10. This may have been incomplete because the coverage was excellent but it's a comeback and you tend to trust your #1 on a comeback.
11. By the time Lacy clears the LBs, he's down.
We lost this game because FSU dominated us in the trenches, our secondary was shredded, our receivers dropped key passes, our coaches made zero adjustments and our players literally quit in the 4th. And after that maybe because our QB only had a B level game.
Your examples here are not very good critiques.

Half of your examples are a good read by the QB.
