re: Why do people equate criticizing JD with “Blaming him entirely” for the loss?

What I find very interesting is playcalling differences between Nuss and Daniels. Go watch Purdue and you can see it is much more open for Nuss throwing than Daniels. The coaches know Daniels is not comfortable throwing the ball more than 5-7 yards and they scheme for it.
The problem is, this sort of offense and QB inability allows for the defense to stack the box. It also forces LSU to be perfect on catches up and down the field, which we have proven we can not do.
JD was not the reason we lost, but he is a major part of it despite playing okay. I am firmly on the Nuss bus at this point, because JD has proven he can’t develop and as a whole I think the offense will play better with Nuss at QB. If that’s not the case, you still have Daniels to do what he does, run the ball.

quote:I hate the fact that I'm having to defend JD here, but he threw for 347 yards against a good FSU defense.
A QB who cannot pass is a bad QB in today's game.
If he was playing outside of the major conferences, he'd probably be dominating. He's a legitimately talented player and he's a playmaker.
All that said, he's got big flaws as a passer, and those flaws hamstring your entire offense. I'd much rather someone who had some downfield ability to open up our offense.

He won't play QB in the NFL, unless a team wants him to backup their real dual threat. He should be catching balls instead of throwing them. He'd be a great LSU WR.

Take away his first pass and the long garbage time TD. He threw for 192 outside of that. Without a WR breaking a short pass for a long TD, he can’t put up big numbers throwing consistently.
Even some of his better throwing games last year, lots of underthrowing deep routes and bad throws altogether.

There’s literally zero reason to play him moving forward. We aren’t winning a title with him and he’s gone after this year so give some experience to and develop the guy that actually has a chance to lead us somewhere. Anyone that can’t acknowledge this has their head completely up their arse
This isn’t the NFL. You don’t sacrifice games this season for next season. Good way to lose players.

I think you have to play him in some capacity, but he shouldn’t be the de facto starter anymore. He is gone after this year regardless, Nuss needs to play.

Did we win? No! Point made

If LSU had a dominant defense, JD would be fine.
If LSU had a run game, JD would be fine.
But they don't and a downfield passing threat is your only chance to attempt to offset some of those issues.
Daniels isn't bad, his skillset just doesn't work on this team.

What position can affect the game more than QB? I'll wait.
Ask Drew Brees if having a defense matters
(nobody is arguing whether QB is the most important position)

I am on the Nuss Bus now, but I wanted JD to figure it out. Kid is electric with the ball and deserves to be involved in some capacity. Him in the Redzone with Nuss as QB would be scary.

As I said, receivers need to catch the ball. The ball was delivered multiple times on 3rd downs past the sticks and they were dropped.
Agreed. I am in no way blaming JD. Everyone played a part in that colossal ?? F. That being said, Nuss needs a look.

Because just criticizing JD isnt addressing any real issue. He’s as good as any available QB on the roster currently. If he wasn’t, he wouldn’t be the starter. I’m sorry to all the Nuss fan boys out there but he just isn’t substantially better than JD. If he was HE WOUKD BE YOUR STARTER. To think a coach would sit a substantially better player for “reasons” is just ignorant and shows the immaturity of the person making such an ignorant claim.
JD isnt a great QB. But playing Nuss ain’t going to all of a sudden make this terrible team a contender.

Brother, the QB pay was good enough to win on Sunday. Defensively, you were atrocious. You won't win any titles with defense that cannot get a single stop in a whole half of football. Not one.
The same people who are blaming every loss on JD5 are also the same ones who blamed every loss previously on Dave Aranda and were his biggest critics. It’s strange.

He failed to SCORE points. That is all that matters. Just another empty stat upon which BK probably relies when deciding who can play?

This is the dumbest take I’ve seen this week.

This. Once we went down 14, I was ready to give Nuss a look. This looks eerily similar to Hurts/Tua at Bama. At some point, they needed Tua to throw the ball downfield. We're at that point now.
