Do Cajun accents sound like country accents to Yankees?

No, Cajun is very distinct at least to my ears from a country or southern accent. At least from what I learned watching Justin Wilson and that guy on tv that hunts alligators.

Nothing sexier than a country gal with a sweet southern accent.

Anyone not born in the 11 southern states is a Yankee.

My dad was born in Tennessee and mom in Alabama. Dad had a job in Chicago when I was born. Moved to Louisiana when I was six. All my cousins made fun of my Yankee accent. When I was 20, I moved to Florida and caught shite for having a southern accent. Can't win for nothing. My sister is 12 years older and stayed in Chicago. Every time a speak to her, iam glad I moved down here. she has that Wisconsin accent. Sounds like her nose is stuffed up.

a friend of mine(born in upstate NY,) pitched for LSU and was drafted by the pros, was sent to Visalia initially, and I've got relatives in that area, he said you guys just think you have the redneck market cornered in the south, Visalia has all of you beat to hell when it comes to rednecks

My entire family is from Western PA and that place is loaded w/rednecks. Including my own family members.

we stayed at the Springhill Suites by the Arnold Palmer airport, looks like that hotel may have been one of his investments

I’m very proud of my Southern accent and can’t understand why anyone would want to lose theirs. A southern accent is far more pleasant to the ears than any of the various yankee accents.

Southern accents carry the stereotype of sounding more uneducated than flat accents. People in the Midwest and northeast view Southern states (except Florida) as a bunch of dumb uneducated hicks who never went to college and work service industry jobs. That’s the stereotype northerners have when they hear southern accents.

No offense but statistics prove there’s truth to that stereotype. The south has always been the poorest region of the country and its been that way for 50+ years. People on here don’t like to hear that because they have a vendetta against the culture of Northeastern and West Coast people (forget the politics)

At Auburn when I was a student, we had a NJ girl who had a heavy Jeriosy accent as a freshman. By the time she graduated, she sounded liked a Southern bell.

In 6th grade, I had a sand hills NC accent so heavy, that a Yankee teacher thought I had a speech impediment. Damn Yankee.

After 50 years in NYC, I sound like a damn Yankee even if I'm whistling Bonnie Blue.

Depends on how susceptible you are to getting caught by the algorithm.
When I lived in Seattle a while back, some people I worked with started saying "yall" and "fixin' to"
