Since it was 4th down and he slide the play was immediately dead and the possession was over.
It's a little weird but technically correct. I wouldn't be surprised if that gets changed over the offseason.

It’s not that confusing, the play ended when he began his slide and it was 4th down. I don’t know why the announcers are making a big deal about this.

If a quarterback throws an incomplete pass on 4th down and then gets a roughing the passer penalty called on him, what happens?
