I think his department's budget would be better spent elsewhere.

You really seem to focus on this scenario.
Because it’s the obvious reason why trashy guys are mad AS frick ... that women can’t murder their children in Alabama.
It's been 25 years since I picked-up a woman in a bar, and I still question the legality and constitutionality of a "conspiracy" prosecution for providing ins-state assistance to someone in performing a later act OUTSIDE THE STATE which is perfectly-legal in the situs where the act will be performed.

If you think abortion is murder, not sure how you can laugh about it.

Or do nothing while millions of babies are slaughtered.

I guess being a dick on social media is your plan.

Say Baw you could have atleast quoted my entire post before getting all emotional.... maybe you should ride over to the next county and bootleg you a bottle of bonded bourbon and make yourself a drink. You're getting a bit too emotional.

It is stupid. I doubt the guy is really a conservative and likely is just a deep state hack puppet doing deep state things to mess up elections and divide people.

I was in law school with Steve Marshall. He was a brilliant law student. He was conservative back then, but not as far right as he seems now.

He is term limited and cannot run for AG again in 2026. I imagine he is saying things to endear himself to Alabama Republicans so he can seek some other office.

There you go lying.

I’m not laughing about children being murdered.

I’m laughing my arse off at the trash in this thread who are red-faced, sky-screaming, seething angry that babies are allowed to live in Alabama.

They’re damn near pissed at EVERYBODY- Alabama’s AG, Republicans, Conservatives, SCOTUS, Christians, Protestants, you name it- because Alabama made it illegal to murder children.

I haven’t seen this level of Reee since 2016. And it’s glorious!

Think Marshall's position may have merit if the organization is based within the state. Agree that Alabama cannot prevent a woman from going out of state.

With that said, Marshall is one of the most political office holders I've ever seen. Everything the former Democrat does is based on whether it is the best position for his future political ambitions. Assuming he will run for Lt Governor and has ambition to be Governor.

Odd.

I am not seeing any of that.

I am seeing people discussing (1) federalism, (2) constitutionality and (3) realpolitik.

You seem pretty emotional so you may not be down for the academic discussion about to follow, but you can only have a conspiracy if you have a crime that is the object of that conspiracy.

Alabama lacks jurisdiction to indict anyone, even an Alabama citizen, for an act that takes place in California and is legal in California (or anywhere else abortion is legal).

But his Advisory seems to be MUCH broader than this particular organization. It could EASILY be applied to the next-door-neighbor who drives Jim to the airport for that trip to Colorado for skiing and weed.

I'm conservative, pro-life, and I'm having trouble with this AG.

Let me ask a few questions for the attorneys.

If some guys and I makes plans in my garage in AL to rob a bank in MS, and AL LE find those plans, what happens? Will we be arrested for conspiracy in AL or extradited to MS for bank theft?

Is a law broken in AL if a few people make plans to go to another state to have an abortion.

What if a woman just ask for a ride to another state, but the driver has no idea what for?

I ask these question legitimately, as I'm struggling with the
"criminal conspiracy" part.

I would love to read the Advisory. I suspect that it is long on hyperbole and short on legal reasoning and/or authority.

I don't think there is even a written advisory. He just made a few public statements that he believes those who assist women to seek abortions out of state could be prosecuted.

Now two lawsuits have been filed based on these threats. Seems like there are standing issues, since no one has been prosecuted, or even directly threatened with prosecution.

But the AG's office has sought dismissal on the grounds it would be a prosecutable criminal conspiracy. That is the paper you want to read, I guess.

Big Time. He was a Democrat until that got in his way of running successfully for office.
