Backup OL is a concern

Seemed like every run play was getting blown up right after the snap. Winston and Haener hardly had anytime in the pocket. Even with the backups, Peat was a noticeable turnstile. What a terrible contract.

It’s the weakest position on our team for sure. I think even our starters need to prove that they can hold up and be a strong, consistent unit.

Second/third team could all stand to be replaced as far I'm concerned. Probably the weakest OL unit the Saints have had since '06.

I think OL and safety are our weak spot. Carr is going to have some rushed throws this year.

Backup Olineman has to be some of the least athletic people I have seen in my life. It’s basically teams taking a chance on their size. Idk who 66 is for us but it’s no way that dude makes the roster

Playing the last game of preseason has its drawbacks.
While teams were trading their fringe roster players away for assets the Saints and Texans were preparing for games. Saints could have, and hopefully away calling about linemen.

Mike D has been talking about how shitty O-Line depth is in the NFL due to the way colleges use their Olineman. They are all coming into the NFL as light players, with poor fundamentals and no experience playing in a pro style offense.
He said you would be hard pressed to find 7 guys on any team that could/should start in the NFL.

Good thing you never play the whole backup unit at the same time. A backup playing with the starters doesn’t look as bad, especially with the saints ability to move guys around.

I haven’t seen a team play yet where the backup Oline has looked good. Pretty sure that’s typical across the league
