Anybody else watching this? It's the story of how "The Godfather" was made. Not sure how much of this is true but if half of its true it's an unbelievable story. Highly recommend.

Friend,

Uncle shared this show with me on his computer and I thought it was quite good, actually substantially better than all the Godfather movies put together.

Guess that depends on which half.

alajones2 and I watched it when it first came out and liked it a lot. The main embellishments IIRC come from his (Miles Teller’s character) personal relationships with the mobsters, and the actual danger he was in from that one nut. It was still entertaining and I also appreciated seeing a lot of the old BoB actors on screen. Seems like most of them just faded away after that series.

Dang. I like Miles. I thought he did well as the lead. I’ve never thought of him as a weak link in any film that I can remember.

Was there more than two BoB actors?

Frank Sinatra and Columbo's right hand man.

We had a good-sized thread on it when it came out. Goode should've won an Emmmy for his portrayal of Robert Evans.

Agreed.

When it came out, the whole family looked forward to watching each new episode every week. We knew it was embellished a bit of course, but it was still good. Everyone nailed their roles, but they did embellish looks as bit (making leading guys more handsome then they were historically) as Hollywood is known to do.

Al Ruddy in real life:

I thought it was good, I enjoyed it.

I read some things about the accuracies and a lot of it was extremely exaggerated for the show, and a lot of people involved have issues because it certainly greatly increases Ruddy's role in things.

Not sure how much was true or not, but it was excellent.

I loved it. Just recently watched it myself. I assumed a bit of it was embellished but hey I took it for what it’s worth. I binged it over a week or so and hated when it was over.

The Bob Evans actor was great. His accent was amazing.

I'm with you. This was a perfect storm of the guy Teller was playing wrote the part to make himself look way too good, and Teller just letting it go to his head. I stopped watching the show because of just that. The rest was OK.

And guess who wrote and produced the show, Yeap, Teller character. Not a surprise that his character is essentially the “man” the entire series.

The show is a complete fabrication with bits of truth in it. For those looking for a documentary on the Godfather making - it’s not.

For those wanting to reminisce about the Godfather story - it’s fantastic.

Than I shan't choose to watch it.
