Matthew Goode is giving an Oscar caliber performance as Bob Evans. Unfortunately he’s in a 70’s made for TV movie. The other performances are cartoonishly broad and the writing is ridiculously obvious and cliche.

Watching now. This is an evolution of Teller. He’s really a different yet very authentic role. Just one first impression.

This is really weirdly good. Not even sure why right offhand. Is it the acting, dialogue, other, I can’t tell but I’m really intrigued.

Watch this now. If it holds true to the first episode, I don’t think I’ve seen it’s equal. There’s not a word of wasted dialogue yet still covering so much so efficiently and effectively. Wow.

After watching Goode play Bob Evans I'm seriously contemplating a career change
Cocktails at 9 in the morning with wannabe actresses. Wild parties at his house with naked women running around and he's the boyfriend of a young Ali McGraw.

I have enjoyed it thoroughly, at least the first three episodes. Joe Colombo is portrayed sort of goofy but the young Pacino was cast well. IRL, Bufalino really had a lot to do with the movie happening, likely some through Colombo, which maybe we'll see with the role of his godson Al Martino as Fontaine and the drama with the unions over his casting.

They should give goode all the awards. He has nailed it. He must have watched “The kid stays in the picture “ a million times. Lol

None of what Goode is doing should work. His performance should come off like a bad SNL skit... But it's not. It's some of the best acting I've seen in years. It's like you're watching Evans reincarnated on screen. He perfectly captured the "Kid Stays on the Picture" aura to prefection.

I figured this series would come off pretty mediocre... But it's extremely compelling and the casting is incredible.

The only thing I wonder is, Ruddy was supposedly a total semi-incompetant control freak who wanted to fire Coppola and wanted Redford or Ryan O'Neill for the role of Michael, and was adamant against Brando.

Eveything you read or have heard over the years is that Evans and Ruddy were constantly trying nagging and overbearing and, if it were up to them, the film would have likely failed.

I agree, I am really liking this show. But you gotta wonder what type of things Paramount will leave out, if it makes them look bad.

I'm really enjoying it too. Fogler is nailing Coppola!

That’s a pretty big difference from the series.

I just noticed that the series is based of Ruddy's own book and that he is producing it, along with his daughter I believe.

By all accounts from Coppola and Jimmy Caan and numerous others, Francis hated working with the studio, and he cut them all out of the second picture due to his experience on the original. He produced Godfather II himself under the Paramount banner because he hated them so much.

Thats not to say the entire series is untrue. Quite the contrary. The Charlie Bludhorn stuff is all supposedly pretty realistic to how he really was. He was basically a cartoon character who was pretty easily swayed by Hollywood flash.

The Joe Columbo stuff is pretty accurate, according to most accounts.

I really wish this show came out on Netflix. It's really bingeable. Not wanna have to wait over a month to finish the season.

By the way it breaks between certain scenes, this must have been a show made originally for Paramount network or something, and they elected to put it on streaming.

I also agree that this should have been released all at once. I will likely forget about it by time the next episode is related, which I think is on May 5.

No one wanted to work with Brando at the studios. He was notoriously difficult to work with because he was so weird. He lived his character.

Anyone still watching this? I am really liking it, its a very entertaining watch. The episode last week was good and Justin Chambers was excellent as Brando.

The show is still good, but damn, this week to week release is probably losing a lot of audience share.

If you could have watched this as a 10-hour movie, it would have been a much better move.

The Offer and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds release every Thursday. Paramount+ is smart for getting audience overlap and an easy reminder when you go to watch one or the other.

This is a great series. Really enjoying it so far. Watching it with my son. We watched the last episode out a few nights ago and started a Godfather re-watch after.

Agree I’ve been spoiled by releasing all at once. I’ll just wait until 2-3 epis are out, do a brief rewatch of the previous one and catch up.
