My God. My childhood home was halfway between DeRidder and Merryville. This is so sad. Canadian level fires.

New fire at the Lions Camp/Vernon Lake Area. Totally separate from the evans fire.

It’s getting out of hand fast. The video my buddy just sent me looks apocalyptic.

Just heard from my aunt who lives on Maul Road, 5 miles south of Deridder. She's said she's evacuated. It's sounds like the severity of the fire is being underreported.

Kind words, but two days ago she was laughing about smoke in the distance. Now she's out of her home. I think we're all ready for this thing to be nipped in the bud.

Been very fortunate. So far all is good. Fire has gotten close everyday, just hasn’t made the big push I guess

The one by Leesville got really bad. Lions Club Road Fire

I’ve been seeing a lot of national guard trucks moving giant bull dozers west on I-10 from Baton Rouge. I presume they are going to the fires

.

They evacuated areas closer to Leesville - like Hawthorne. IDK if that’s a new fire or if the Lions Club Road fire moved that direction that quickly. But that’s several miles SE of Lake Vernon.

To be frank, massive wildfires like this is a new concept to us in Louisiana. There is probably a better way to track it but I don’t know how.

I don’t think they are going to get much of a break today. Temperature of 108 degrees. NW winds 5-10. And temps in the 100’s. No rain. For ten days at least.

Looking at the maps this fire is not going to stop till it runs out of fuel or we get massive rain.

Pretty sobering when you see how many trees there are left to burn.

Y’all go on Google Satellite Maps. There is an icon for the Tiger Island Fire. Click it. It shows the approximate burn area.

That fire is going to burn a while. It’s just getting started.

We have lots of fire abatement resources around here, including Ft. Johnson. Private timber doesn't prescribe burn like Kisatchie does. Bound to happen in a drought to two of the largest pine parishes in the state.

It jumped a main road they were trying to kill eastward progression last night. They ordered big evacuation and supposedly ordered all fire departments out. There was an army of civilians that showed up soon with several dozers and tractors and about have it contained again for now. Crazy

It’s almost surreal the behavior of these fires. Laura and Delta are still frocking that area. Tons of downed timber that has been sitting there for three years and has been drying die 40 plus days straight. It’s highly flammable and the downed timber slows the dozers way down

A new incident management team is there so we will be getting actual daily updates with the exact acres and maps of this thing They arefrom the south so know how fires behave in these type fuels

The national sit report is updated everyday here
LINK

You can look in there and see all the resources spread over the country

Texas has their own interagency coordination system for this and I am sure once this is over louisiana will be doing the same.

If you look at an aerial In all directions of that fire are row planted timber plantations that have never burned Another thing that is difficult is all through the the oil and gas infrastructure
