Ok so we all love the shallow coastal marsh fishing and also the near rigs. If you had a pick, what would be your dream boat, as a family friendly fishing boat that can be trailered on the roa. 18-30 feet. Outboard powered. And equipment.

For me, a 24’ islamorada would do it. I wouldn’t turn my nose up at a blackjack 256 coastal either.

Haven’t found anything better than the Blue Wave 28ft hybrid. It’s perfect for S Louisiana.

Gotta look at the hybrids. Blazer bay, blue wave 2800 and the cravelle.

Ran one with twin 300s a few months ago. It was nice but wasn’t that impressed with build quality and a few other things.

Costa 264 blows it out the water.

I don't have any experience with these, but when the powerball was a billion I built a ton of 24' robalo Caymans, 24-26 Everglades, and 24-26 Boston whalers.

They seemed to have the best compromise between creature comforts and fishing.

I wouldn’t think this boat would be good for inshore. When I think of Louisiana fishing, to me, you need a front and back deck. This one has no useable casting deck.

But for 300k.. it better blow it out the water

Yeah guess you are kind of right with that. I don’t do much inshore so I guess I’m more biased for an offshore styled boat

It’s front deck isn’t much worse for inshore than a 28 bluewave for comparison though.

Blackjack 256 coastal for me.

I've learned that when the weather is good, I'm going offshore. Can't resist it. Doesn't matter how good the specs are biting or whatever else.

So erasing the near-shore requirement because I hardly do that anymore, a 34 venture

For your typical inshore trip in LA, the Blue Wave is such a better boat as far as inshore fishing setup.

I dont think so. Casting decks are greatly overrated for inshore fishing. My boat doesnt have a back deck at all and it's spectacular for speck fishing 4 people.

Those blue waves have shite for floor space in them. Floor space is CRUCIAL on the mangrove bite, or when a lemonfish comes over the side.

Deck space is really for creating storage space and that's about it.

I have a 20’ Hydrasport Ocean Skiff 20’ Dual console. Comfortably fish 4 guys for trout or snapper. So, I kind of have a pretty perfect rig for what I do. It’s why I repowered instead of trading out in 2021.
