One of the Texas utility companies made that announcement. I'm not an electornic expert, but I doubt turning down volume and brightness a notch or two is not going to save any measureable energy. What say the OT experts?

I got my TV vaccinated

Move out of Texas and that arse of an electric grid.

Better yet, turn your TV off. I have maybe watched 10 hours of TV since football season ended.

It is all an experimental mind game. Your choice to play their games or not.

I hope you people are wearing a mask when you watch TV.
Three years into the pandemic and we still have people sitting at home on their couches watching TV with their family and not a single one of them is wearing a mask.

Measurable?
Sure, maybe 100-200 (dare I say 350) milliwatts.
Enough to prevent the power grid from collapsing?
No.
ETA - Link to ERCOT dashboard where you can see system status (capacity, demand, etc.).

I have an idea, start shooting the assholes who still make commercials play louder than what you are watching. Seems like that would be a two birds stoned with one bush type deal.

A liberal mind is a terrible thing.

Since I've started lowering the volume in my car, I've increased mpg by 11%!

When you're running on "3 miles to empty" turning down the radio has been scientifically proven to help you reach the gas station.

If it just saves one kilowatt… do your part.

point all your speakers to the rear and crank the volume...the added air pressure will help push the car
pro tip: put them in swivels and you can reverse them when you back up

If the TV is already on making any changes like that would be pretty miniscule on an individual basis. There are much better ways to save energy. A smart thermostat is probably one of the more effective ways. And not leaving things on that don't need to be on. The obvious stuff...

Between the grid, the border, and the recent Section 8 law, Texas will be a wasteland in 20 years.

As long as it is not “smart enough” to turn the temperature up when I am trying to cool off my house because some goofball at a government agency said to conserve power and it receives a wireless signal to raise the thermostat. If we allow those types of thermostats in our homes, we are allowing the inmates run the asylum.
