Edit: For those that don’t know, the Chinese were an important part of the raids. The Chinese people were instrumental in hiding our pilots and keeping them safe from the Japanese. The Chinese helped because the Japanese were brutal toward them - even more so than they were toward US fighters.

I think one of the issues that people are MAINLY upset about are the fact that this caused the Japanese to kill 250,000 Chinese that helped Americans. That in itself does raise eyebrows, although it's not like the Japanese said "hey if you do something we're gonna kill all these people."
