Have you ever first-named your mom or dad?

I called my mom by her name once in my college years. Since I was to old to spank she refused to talk to me for 3 months.

Not unless I wanted a hammer upside the head.

I’ve never even considered it. That’s really weird.

My brother called my dad by his first name when he was 15 - that wasn’t pretty - so I never did

My dad just reached through my phone and knocked the shite out of me for opening this thread

I called my grandparents by their first names. Nobody remembers how or why I started but they let it slide.

My two boys (early 20s) both work with me. It’s always first name in the office and dad after hours. They flip back and forth automatically.

My brother does when talking to other members of the family and referring to the parents but not sure he's done it directly to either one of them.

I call my mom by her nickname and have for years. But never called her by name. Dad either.
I did mouth off to my mom one time though, and she went to slap me and I caught her hand/arm. That didn’t end well for me and the other hand came twice as fast.

I can’t think of anything more disrespectful.

Not a chance. I felt weird even asking for my dad to send me how his name is on his ID so I could put it on his plane ticket.

I never had the desire
With my sibling I will refer to our folks as "your" parents though

Only when in a crowded place if I need to catch their attention from across the room.

Never first named my parents nor any aunts or uncles. My kids, however, would occasionally resort to my name if they said “Dad” a handful times and I didn’t respond. We’d laugh about it afterwards.

We kids did it as adults in an endearing way when she was older. Made her smile and roll her eyes.
Never disrespectfully or in anger and definitely not as a child. Not out of fear. It just never occurred to me.

Forgot about dad. I first name with his and my buddies, and when he can't hear me talking to him. Still mostly dad. Or grey beard. Or older me.
