LSU Coverage on The Athletic

Does anybody know if Brody Miller completely moved away from doing LSU coverage for The Athletic? I was on this morning and realized I hadn't seen an LSU specific article in a while, which is strange considering articles write themselves at this point in the year. I went to the LSU page and saw that everything was generic college football. I also see that Brody's twitter indicates just golf for the athletic. So, I assume he is done with LSU, but I wasn't sure.
I already planned to let me subscription lapse because they haven't had a beat writer for the Saints in over a year. Now , it looks like LSU won't either. It's really disappointing if true.

The athletic hates Louisiana sports confirmed.

The athletic was purchased by the New York Times, and they had a we few layoffs

The only schools that have dedicated writers are now:
Alabama
Georgia
Iowa
Miami
Michigan
Nebraska
Notre Dame
Penn State
Wisconsin
That means the athletic no longer has staff writers for LSU, Florida, Clemson, Texas, A&m, Ohio State, or Tennessee.
It's shameful what they've done to that website. Used to be some really good writers there.

That was a long time ago. Holder and Miller both still work for The Athletic, but they have shifted them to other areas. Having no Louisiana beat writer is likely due to costs, but I'm just pointing out that they didn't get rid of all of the guys that were covering Louisiana.

I mentioned letting my subscription lapse, but I forgot that already happened and they gave me one for $2 a month. I get annoyed by having less coverage than when I first joined, but you can't even buy a Coke for $2 anymore, so I felt like it was worth it still.

Glad you brought this up I’ve been meaning to cancel my subscription ever since Brody left the beat. It’s not even close to worth the money with no Louisiana coverage

That would explain why Brody Miller has only been tweeting about golf. I unfollowed the other day.

That's not good because Feldman and Mandel are so dry and boring. Staples seems like a fun guy.

Same, after his announcement, I had to unfollow. He only covers golf now.
But yes there is no coverage of LSU with The Athletic anymore. Jacques Doucet feels the same as us lol.
“I subscribe in large part to read your @LSUfootball articles. If you will not supply a beat writer and ample #LSU content, as you have in the past, that might change. Thank you for your time. @TheAthletic”

Was wondering the same thing. Will cancel my subscription.
Update: Cancelled my subscription and they offered me a full year for only $9.99. I was paying $7.99 per month which I thought was cheap.
Anyway I jumped this yearly cheap subscription. They have pretty good sports coverage overall.

Their college football coverage is pretty good. But, yeah, losing the LSU beat coverage sucks.
Of course, they did not have a beat writer covering the 2022 Astros on their way to winning the World Series, but they had payroll room for beat writers for the Reds and Pirates as they battled for last place in the NL Central.
And, frankly, The NY Times would rather give you a goody, off-the-wall story than cover the daily happenings of a team. Their coverage has always been elitist and never served the average sports fan well. So no surprise The Athletic is heading that way now NYT owns them.

I think I heard him say on OTB he was going to cover golf I believe for the athletic. They did say he wouldn’t be covering LSU anymore.

thanks for reminding me to cancel

I have enjoyed The Athletic, but I am also going to let lapse. My Saints and Tigers coverage has vanished, and I suspect the same will happen with the Pels.

The Athletic isn't replacing Brodie so a 12-0 team that goes to CFP will go uncovered this season. Not exactly a sustainable model for profit.
