My kids school is having us sign an authorization for background

Authorization for background check done thru verified first. The permission slip seems awfully general with no “ one time” clause. Im not signing as of now. Does anyone know about this “Verified First” entity?
The wording
I —— authorize —— and verified first to conduct an appropriate background investigation including but not limited to personal interviews for determination of my eligibility to occupy a position of trust. I authorize all persons who may have information relevant to this background investigation to disclose it to verify first or its agents and release all persons from liability on account from such dis lclosure.
I also authorize any person organization or agency having knowledge of my conduct or activities or any past or present employer or any retail association, bank, financial institution or credit extending institution or any dean, registrar, principal or counselor, instructor or other authorized person at a school, any doctor, medical professional, clinic sanatorium, clinic, or any dept agency of a city, county or state or federal govt to release info to verified first and agents for background purpose
I release—- and its agents from all
Liability resulting from collection use or disclosure of any info resulting from
investigation…
im getting huge red flags. Is this the new trojan horse? If nothing else it seems way too broad. No “one time” or “only relating to or authorizing release if info to the school and no others” Very orwellian

Background check for what?

Why do you need a background check for a school that your child attends?

What kind of background check? On the parents?
I’d never sign that. Are they making the parents of the illegal immigrants in school sign it?

I would find alternative place for schooling before I would sign that. Frick them.

When you homeschool your child, you don't have to worry about "asking" or "giving" permission for much of anything.
Just saying.
Just saying.

If you are signing up to volunteer at the school around the kids or participate in a field trip, they require all parents to go through that. That’s been going on for awhile.

Are you leaving out a key piece of info? Like, the background check is for parents wishing to volunteer to help in the classroom or on field trips?

Background check…. For who?? The kids? WTF do kids need to have a background check done?
When you get something like that mess from a school..
And if it’s for YOU. WTF they think of you to need a damn background check? If it’s to do something there.. then let them do it them damn selves.
Background check… sheesh.
They have teachers fricking students, and administrators fricking teachers. And all the while they are taking “team building” trips to resort casinos on the taxpayer dime while bitching at me about funding.
I wanna see their background checks.

I've only ever seen this if you're working a school event or will chaperone for a field trip.
This is just for them to go on a field trip?

Very likely to be able to visit the campus during school hours.
Given school shootings are always a hot button topic, I can understand why a school might feel they have to do this to mitigate potential liability should the worst happen. That said, they should cover this on the front end when the parents apply to have their child attend the school. Then again, I guess that opens up an whole other can of worms in the event a child is not accepted due to something negative coming up on a pre-admission background check of the parents.
I'm not saying I agree with the background check. Just giving a reason as to why it is done.

why the hell is the school performing a background check on the child?
Posted on 8/15/23 at 10:21 am to LChama
We have to do this in order to be a volunteer, etc. Is this for all parents, or did you agree to be a room parent, carpool helper, or something similar?

I don't know a single state where that's the threshold. It's usually to work a school event or help with a field trip.

Public or Private?
this is the only relevant question. a private school can place whatever conditions on admission it wishes.
public schools can suck an egg.

You seem to be trolling here, why the background check, they didn't tell you?
