Meh, hot women need work too. Pharma reps still need to learn the material. If you want to see where the true dumb bimbos land, go to united rents or oilfield tool reps.

Your buddy is an awesome sales person if he gets you to take this job. He prob gets a step up on pyramid.

Randy, plenty of other opportunities out there better than ADT sales. Some will require building up your pay, but the fun of sales is you have a lot of say in what you make based on your abilities, work, and sales skills.
You have experience in other areas and a degree will help, but not required. You want to find one that will start you out on a guarantee to get your feet wet.
Where do you live
Some good starts would be equipment sales/rentals like Cat Rental stores, united rental, equipment share, etc. Most will come with a vehicle, benefits, guarantee, and some base salary. Outside sales is my gig and love it.

As someone who has been in sales for 6 years now, don’t do it. The key phrase in what your buddy told you is “can” make c amount. Doesn’t mean you will.
Also, relatively easy to get into but without experience, you’ll be selling trash for a few years. Or, you’ll get a shite territory that’s churned out many a reps before you.
Just a note: I’m literally sitting here atm praying I didn’t get stood up by a prospect to get a deal done. The daily life, though.
ETA: I wasn’t stood up. Prospect/now customer had the time wrong. But, I’ll be stood up soon enough by some other a-hole.

BDR stage really is a strong filter. Even the SMB stage to some extent as the pay is low and deals are pretty transactional. Anything beyond that and you have to be someone who embraces the ups, downs, and misery.

That seems like pie in the sky BS. Get into industrial sales with a metals distribution company, welding products, etc where people call you because they need your products. Selling to individuals sucks.

Knees and back will be tore up in 5, but yeah, it's a good paying and high demand skill.

Heavy equipment reps can make a ton of money but it’s hard to get into. Rental companies are goign to grind you but again the money can be great.
Forklifts is great if you are selling a good brand.

Started off selling liquor for a distributor.. I would look into that in some sort. The product sells itself and usually are given company vehicles/gas cards/ etc. 50k plus depending on route, company, etc.
But, you have to have some sort of merchandise experience. While it may seem simple, I’ve Seen a lot of educated people struggle with basic merchandising.

Selling general line gear, yes it's hard, but you start out at their rental side you can get in pretty easily and then gain experience. Texas First Rental Holt Cat, United, etc. are much easier access. Almost every Caterpillar dealer has a cat rental operation.
I personally would go for a Cat Rental option under a dealer and then you have mobility into the general line side should an opportunity pop up. Yes you're right, the rental side will grind you, but can be valuable experience..

Many would be shocked to know what they do to land rentals on a large job.

He didn't move into management eventually?

Seem legit or am I walking into a trap? It's 100% commission which scares the crap out of me.
One of the problems judging sales gigs is that it’s often hard to tell whether it’s a trap until you actually get into the specific job.
This is especially true for 100% commission jobs, where you can have huge differences between individual reps’ incomes depending on their territories/customers. You might have 4 guys making $150-200k who have been there for years and love it, while the 5th position is a revolving door because the territory can’t support more than $50-60k in income.
I would ask pointed questions about their turnover. If they’ve hired 4 people for the same role in the past 2 years, that should tell you something.

Don’t even need to be that hot. Just put together, make up and good smile. I’ve seen managers hard leg over OT 3s cause anything is better than looking at the same fat baws in a dip stained FRC everyday.
If you own a company, don’t give purchasing power to any one with an ugly wife

Be ready to be told no a lot, and if you don't have thick skin, you got something else coming to ya.
It can be fun, most relationships made are great. It's better than sitting behind a desk and doing spreadsheets all day, but it can be rough starting out. I have been doing it for two and a half years now and feel like I am Just starting to get a stable customer base.
Good luck!

Getting in is easy.
Actually succeeding in the field, not so much.
