Teams shot 71.2% against the Pelicans at the rim—worst in the NBA

Teams shot 62.1% at the rim against the Grizzlies—best in the NBA
Should have keep Steven Adams

Who with the Pelicans needs to be handling the rim job?

How many games did Adams play?

You should realize that

A) Adams played like dogshit here

B) We ended up getting Jonas (fits better offensively)

C) The Adams Trade at least indirectly resulted in us getting Trey Murphy instead of Moses Moody or Corey Kispert

There are more reasons, but hopefully these 3 are enough to get through your thick skull.

Bonus knowledge: You do realize that DPOY Jaren Jackson Jr also plays down low and protects the rim for Memphis correct? (Props to the couple posters that also pointed this out)

Steven Adams played 42 game last year for the grizzlies and they have much better team defense than the Pelicans. Also, Triple J there definitely helps everyone.

No hate on Adams but people need to stop propping him up into something he’s not.

You do realize the Grizzlies had the best rim protector in the league in JJJ last year right?

I don't give a shite about your Steven Adams point, but the point that should be taken from this thread is that we need someone other than Jonas playing center for us next season.

What we probably need to hope for is that the team starts out healthy and fast to justify paying the tax. Then you can do an in season trade of JV/Kira/Stuff for someone like Jarrett Allen.

Either that or hope that Liam Robbins is the center version of Jose.

Here's a thought - perimeter players need to do better on defense so the person they're checking doesn't have a free path to the rim

Pelicans had the #6 defense in the league last year despite this so Herb and co were doing work on the wings.

What if I told you that the Pels had the 6th best defensive rating in the league and were better than average in paint points per game given up?

Seems like the perimeter defense was actually able to stay in front of their man just fine…

And to OP- do you think the guy averaging 3 blocks a game or the guy averaging 1.1 blocks a game is leading that rim defense for Memphis?

How much of this was because we were playing without our starting 4 for about 2/3 of the season?

If Zion is healthy and starting while Nance et all are backups rather than starters, what do the numbers look like

I, as TDGM, had tm3 at 10.

memphis has been hoping jjj would play center.
davis bullied them without adams.
trouble is you need depth and versatility.
