Top 5 class is basically impossible at this point. Even if we shoot the moon with both of the big remaining Louisiana kids plus both duncanville kids plus this ole miss flip plus another surprise plus keep every single current commit, that puts our class score at a number that would’ve been like 8th or 9th or 10th last year.

Ship has sailed on a top 5 class. Most likely scenario we land like 12th

You do know many of the 3 stars will become 4 stars etc?

They haven't even played their senior season. There's a lot of rankings that can and will change. BK seems to have an eye for talent. We could have a number of 3-stars suddenly become 4-stars, and we could have some 4 stars jump to five stars. So saying a top 5 class is "basically impossible" is pretty silly. It may not be likely, but it certainly isn't impossible.

LSU is 12th now. If they lose Atkins and pick up just Simmons, McKinley, Durham, Watkins, and no recruits rankings change at all, the class number would be 7-9th based on the average of the last 5 years' classes. However in total that is only 23 commits. Once you add most likely recruiting bumps, that will likely move the class up one spot so 6th-8th ranked. An 8th ranked class at worst, with only 23 commits in a supposedly down Louisiana recruiting year is an elite class.

Also another thing people are forgetting, if in fact both Simmons and Durham commit to LSU on Tuesday, like that was no joke and both were super serious, that is recruiting momentum BIG TIME! It will have meant that from July 22nd to August 1st, LSU would have gotten 1 OT, a LB/S, a CB, a RB, and an EDGE. Five commits in 10 days, with 4 being top 150 overall recruits. With losing Atkins, that would still put us 4th in the rankings going into fall camp with only 21 commits. For reference the top 3 has 19, 21, and 26 commits which would put our class average rating not too far off from theirs.

I see so many can't see the forest for the trees. Poster is right, a top 5 class isn't going to happen from where we are now. Top 5 classes land top 5 talent/committments early.

LSU is banking on their own evaluations of highly rated but not top 75-100 rated, which is where committments need to come from to build a top 5 class.

I'll give Kelly a pass, but his next 2-3 classes absolutely need to be full of studs, and rated top 1-4 at least two years if he wants to build LSU to the level of Bama, OSU, Clemson, USC (who's coming on fast).

As someone who cares about the rankings, I don’t really care about this ranking.

If we can finish strong with 2-3 quality interior defensive players and get a stud RB, this class is as balanced as ever ever had.

Les Miles had top 5 classes with signing 5 WR’s, 2 OL, 2 DL, 8 safeties, 2 CB’s, 2 Kickers and a punter.

This class has 4 stars and several of them at every position grouping.

For all we know, “envitiable” is a synonym for unlikely. Lord knows it has no actual meaning.

Hello Dummy! With neither Louisiana kid on board YET, and only landing 1 of the Duncanville duo LSU’s class jumped to 6th

I have finishing 8th at best, and 16th at worse.

My prediction is an 11th place finish.
